UCF 2, George Mason 2
In its first road trip of the season, UCF challenged George Mason on Sunday afternoon in Fairfax, Va., where the Knights were forced to settle with a draw for the second time in as many matches. The Knights got off to a hot start, with Dayana Martin putting a shot off the inside of the post and into the back of the net to give UCF the lead with her first shot of the game in the third minute. George Mason answered the Knights' early goal within minutes – equalizing the match before the 10-minute mark.
UCF would continue to pepper the Patriots defense, putting up 18 shots in the match, compared to George Mason's seven. Following the break for halftime, Kristen Scott beat the keeper to give the Knights the lead for the second time. The lead didn't last long, however as Mason's Hotaling took a chance at the goal from midfield, just sneaking the ball over DeLisle's head.
UConn 2, Colgate 1
First career goals from Sofia Leone and Rachel Marchini completed a second half comeback for UConn on Sunday night, defeating Colgate, 2-1. Despite controlling the vast majority of the first half, the Huskies entered halftime trailing the Raiders 1-0. Goalkeeper Randi Palacios helped stop a penalty kick attempt in the 12th minute but on the ensuing corner kick, Colgate was able to convert and take an early advantage.
Leone finally cashed in for the Huskies at 50:01 on a feed from Kess Elmore. Elmore rifled a cross into the box that Leone was able to settle and slide past the keeper. The Huskies continued to apply pressure throughout the half and took the lead at 77:12. Freshman Jackie Harnett served a perfect pass off a corner kick that found the head of Marchini. The Waterford, Conn. native directed the ball past the goal line and gave UConn its first lead of the match.
Memphis 1, Omaha 0
Memphis capped its first road trip of the season with a 1-0 victory against the Omaha Mavericks on Sunday afternoon. Although the Tigers sustained pressure in the attacking zone throughout the day, Serena Dolan's goal in the 32nd minute of play was all the offense needed to secure the win.
In goal, Elizabeth Moberg tallied her first solo shutout of the season, facing four shots throughout the day. Memphis outshot the Mavericks by a 14-4 margin and earned seven corner kicks to Omaha's two.
Sacred Heart 3, Temple 1
Temple wrapped up its three-game road stretch in a tough battle against Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon, ultimately falling to 3-1 to the Pioneers. Gabriela Johnson netted an equalizer in the 63rd minute, but Sacred Heart added two more goals to take the decision.
After pressuring on offense all afternoon, Temple's efforts paid off in the 63rd minute. Johnson found the back of the net off an assist from Morgan Morocco to put the Owls on the scoresheet tie the game, 1-1. The Pioneers retook the lead less than two minutes later, as Michelle Clarkin scored for Sacred Heart. In the 80th minute of action, Clarkin netted her second goal of the day to put Sacred Heart ahead, 3-1.
Radford 1, ECU 0
The first road trip of the season for the ECU ended with a 1-0 loss at Radford on Sunday afternoon. The Highlanders got on the board in the 27th minute. Gabi Paupst played a pass to Nicole Ray down the left-hand side. Ray squared a pass across the ECU box and Nelia Perez was waiting on the back post to tap it home.
In the second half, ECU was on the front foot as the Pirates tried to tie the game up. ECU took nine shots in the second 45 minutes, but just two of them were on goal. Cashlin Copley and Daria Draovitch led the way with five shots apiece. Unfortunately, the Pirates could not breakthrough and score the goal they needed as the Highlanders completed the shutout.
Western Michigan 1, Cincinnati 0
Cincinnati dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Western Michigan Sunday night at Gettler Stadium in the Bearcats' 2019 home opener. The lone goal of the night came in the 18' as Morgan Otteson shot into an open net for the goal. The ball came back toward the top of the box where Less was unable to clear it away. The ball spun off her foot toward the center of the box and Otteson connected on the Broncos' first shot of the match for the 1-0 lead.
The Bearcats saw 21 players log minutes in the match with more than half (11) being freshmen (4) and sophomores (7). Both Sydney Goins and Julia Abbott recorded three shots on the night with both also tying individual career highs in the process, while Madison Less recorded a pair of saves in goal in the loss.
TCU 1, SMU 0
No. 25 SMU suffered its first loss of the season to cross-town rival TCU in a 1-0 final on Sunday night. The Mustangs held their own throughout the contest, outshooting the Horned Frogs 16 to seven with eight of SMU's and three of TCU's being on goal.
After a scoreless first half, TCU found the back of the net in the 56th minute when freshman Grace Brian scored on a pass from senior Tara Smith to take the lead. Jewel Boland tallied a total of five shots throughout 62 minutes of playing time, leading SMU's offensive attempts. Four other Mustangs had multiple shots and Allie Thornton and Hannah Allred both had two shots on goal.
Cal State Northridge 2, Houston 1
Houston dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Cal State Northridge on Sunday night, with the visitors scoring the first two goals of the night before Reid Morrison put the Cougars on the board in the 43
rd minute.
Both teams recorded 10 shots, while CSUN put eight on goal compared to the Cougars’ three. Sammy Cude finished with six saves for the Cougars in net.
Oklahoma 3, Tulsa 2
Tulsa team battled Oklahoma, but dropped a 3-2 overtime decision on Sunday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
Tied at one-all at the break, Aubrey Lechlider gave the Golden Hurricane the go-ahead goal at the 47:08 mark off a pass from Ashlan Hustava and Tulsa maintained the lead for the next 25 minutes off the clock. Kaylee Dao evened the score once again in the 73rd minute and the contest went into overtime. Dao scored again in the 98th minute to give the Sooners the win.
