Four American Teams Pick Up Wins Thursday Night

UCF 4, Arizona State 1
 
After being tied, 1-1, at the half, UCF scored three second-half goals to defeat Arizona State, 4-1, in Orlando, Fla. The Knights have now won back-to-back games and improved to 2-1-2 on the season.
 
After Jessica Taylor opened the scoring for UCF in the 31st minute, reigning American Rookie of the Week Ally Gudorf assisted on a pair of goals early in the second half, first to Zandy Soree in the 55th minute and then to Kristen Scott in the 59th minute. Ellie Moreno closed the scoring in the 79th minute.
 
Cincinnati 3, Lipscomb 2
 
Cincinnati went on the road and came from behind to earn its second win of the season, 3-2, at Lipscomb in Nashville, Tenn. The Bearcats (2-5-0) started strong with Han Tang scoring within three minutes off an assist by Sophie Gorman, but Lipscomb came back and took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
 
Gorman tied the game in the 64th minute off a feed from Bri Costigan, before Tang scored her second of the day from the penalty spot in the 66th minute. The Bearcats led in shots 16-8 and held an advantage of 12-4 in the second half.
 
SMU 2, Rice 0
 
SMU improved to 5-1-0 on the season with a 2-0 win over Rice in Dallas. Hannah Allred scored a brace and recorded nine shots on the night. SMU ended up outshooting Rice, 23-6.
 
Allred was assisted by Wayny-Natasha Balata Nguenign in the 11th minute, and then scored just 15 seconds into the second half off a pass from Celiana Torres. Tatum Sutherland made a pair of saves for her first shutout of the year.
 
Memphis 6, Southeastern Louisiana 0
 
No. 14 Memphis used a big first half to win its fourth-consecutive game, 6-0, over Southeastern Louisiana. The Tigers, who improved to 6-1-0, led in shots, 36-1.
 
Clarissa Larisey opened the scoring with her eighth goal of the season in the seventh minute. Mya Jones, who assisted on the first goal, scored one of her own in the 10th minute. Samantha Murphy followed with a pair of goals and an assist, while Tanya Boychuk and Allie Rathbun also scored for the Tigers.
 
Temple 1, Maryland 1 (2OT)
 
A late goal from Marissa DiGenova earned Temple a 1-1 draw at Maryland in College Park, Md. The Owls moved to 1-3-2 on the season. Temple was outshot, 9-2, and was down, 1-0, at halftime before a much stronger second half.
 
Shots were much even with Maryland only having one more in the second half, 10-9, but it was last shot in regulation that tied it when Marissa DiGenova scored with 27 seconds left. DiGenova was assisted by Hailey Gutowski.
 
ODU 2, ECU 1
 
ECU fell at home to ODU, 2-1, in Greenville, N.C. The Pirates fell to 2-3-1 on the season. The two teams were scoreless in a first half that saw the Monarchs lead in shots, 6-1.
 
After Old Dominion scored in the 56th minute, the Pirates tied the game in the 61st minute after a shot deflected and fell to Tori Riggs, who curled in a shot for her second goal of the season. ODU scored in the 78th minute and was able to hold on to secure the win.
 
Oregon State 5, Houston 0
 
Four second-half goals propelled Oregon State to a 5-0 win over Houston. The Cougars dropped to 2-5-0 on the season.
 
Oregon State led in shots, 16-13, while Houston had five corners to the Beavers’ one. Sammy Cude made three saves in goal for the Cougars.

Missouri State 5, Tulsa 1

After a scoreless first half, Tulsa fell 5-1 to Missouri State on Friday night. Averee Dubach opened the scoring in the 55th minute off a pass from Alyssa Kaiser. 

MSU then came back and scored the next five. Tulsa led in shots, 14-12, and corner kicks, 8-4
