Tulane bounced back from a loss in the opening set to take the final three frames from host LSU, dominating in sets three and four of an emphatic 18-25, 26-24, 25-11, 25-11 victory in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was the third victory of the season for the Green Wave against an in-state opponent, to go along with a sweep of UL-Lafayette on Aug. 31 and a four-set win against New Orleans on Sept 10.
 
Erika Hansel paced Tulane with 11 kills in the match, and Kayla Dinkins contributed nine kills and seven total blocks. Makala Heidelberg registered a team-high 18 digs for the Green Wave, while Jenna Ibieta turned in a double-double with 19 assists and 10 digs.
 
No. RV Cincinnati 3, Bowling Green (Ohio) 0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-16)
 
No. RV Cincinnati made quick work of Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati. The Bearcats raced past the Falcons 25-16, 25-19, 25-16 to wrap up the Queen City Classic.
 
Cincinnati hit at a .423 clip for the match, including an impressive .680 effort in the opening set. Reigning American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week Jordan Thompson was in control for the Bearcats with a team-high 21 kills and 10 digs for a double-double, while Maria Mallon chipped in 10 kills and 16 digs. Armania Heckenmueller contributed an assist to 42 of Cincinnati’s 49 kills in the victory.
 
ECU 3, Alabama A&M 2 (22-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-5)
 
East Carolina battled back from an early two-set deficit versus Alabama A&M to secure a hard-fought comeback win. The Pirates stopped Alabama A&M 22-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-5 in their final match of the weekend in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, to claim their seventh straight win overall.
 
Reigning American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week Brandee Markwith turned in her second 30-dig effort of the 2019 season, registering 31 digs in the comeback against Alabama A&M. Sydney Kleinman notched a team-high 22 kills and added five digs, while Bri Wood fashioned a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs.
 
Miami (Fla.) 3, No. RV UCF 2 (25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 23-25, 15-11)/No. RV UCF 3, FAU 0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-15)
 
UCF nearly completed the comeback in its first match of the day Saturday as host of the Sunshine State Classic, dropping a five-set result to Miami (Fla.) by a final score of 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 23-25, 15-11. The Knights bounced back with a sweep of Florida Atlantic in the nightcap by 25-15, 25-18, 25-15 scores.
 
McKenna Melville powered the UCF offense with 22 kills and 11 digs, and Kristina Fisher chipped in 15 kills and eight digs in the opener. Anne-Marie Watson was credited with nine kills and 12 block assists against Miami. In the win over FAU, Watson led the way with nine kills and four blocks and Erin Olson added 20 assists and four digs.
 
No. RV Indiana 3, USF 1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-12, 25-21)/USF 3, Stetson 0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-19)
 
In its opening game of the day during the USF Invitational, USF dropped a four-set match to No. RV Indiana by way of a 25-22, 18-25, 25-12, 25-21 final score. The Bulls bounced back in their second match of the day with a clean sweep of Stetson, 25-19, 25-17, 25-19.
 
Jac’cara Walker posted a double-double of 16 kills and 15 digs against Indiana to pace USF, Lauren LaBeck added 23 assists and 14 digs of her own. CC Clausen also notched 14 digs for the Bulls versus the Hoosiers. Walker logged 11 kills and 12 digs in the triumph over Stetson, and Clausen turned in a team-high 19 digs.
 
UTEP 3, Houston 2 (20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-13)/Houston 3, Incarnate Word 2 (25-13, 24-26, 20-25, 26-24, 15-10)
 
After taking an early two-set advantage, Houston was unable to put UTEP away and dropped a heartbreaking 20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-13 result to open the day in Lubbock, Texas. The Cougars bounced back with a five-set triumph versus Incarnate Word in a back-and-forth 25-13, 24-26, 20-25, 26-24, 15-10 match.
 
Claire Karsten closed the UTEP contest with a team-high 14 kills along with eight digs, and Katie Karbo chipped in 21 digs to surpass the 2,000 career digs mark for her career. Kelsey Childers added a double-double with 17 assists and 14 digs. Karbo established an American Athletic Conference top mark for the season with 35 digs against Incarnate Word, while Megan Duncan threw down 21 kills.
 
No. 1 Nebraska 3, Wichita State 0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-15)
 
Wichita State finished on the wrong end of a three-set result at No. 1 Nebraska, with the host Cornhuskers claiming a 25-17, 25-10, 25-15 decision in Lincoln, Nebraska.
 
Sina Uluave led Wichita State with seven kills and added three digs, and Kora Kauling narrowly missed a double-double with 11 assists and nine digs. Kora Brown chipped in nine digs for the Shockers.
 
Oklahoma 3, SMU 1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 28-26)
 
Despite a triumphant first set on Saturday in Norman, Oklahoma, SMU was unable to sustain the momentum against the host Sooners. Oklahoma ultimately took control and downed the game Mustangs 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 28-26 in four sets.
 
Mekenzi Heckmann turned in 17 kills and nine digs for SMU, while Montana Watts added a team-high 19 digs to the cause. Lily Heim closed the match with 47 assists and 16 digs for the Mustangs.
 
Northern Kentucky 3, Tulsa 0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-22)
 
Tulsa closed the WKU Volleyball Invitational in Bowling Green, Kentucky, against Northern Kentucky, falling in a 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 sweep to the Norse.
 
Maggie Hembree recorded 11 kills for Tulsa in the setback, while Taylor Horsfall added 21 digs and eight assists. Mariah Pardo chipped in 16 assists and seven digs and Roosa Rautio turned in 11 assists and eight digs.
 
Southeast Missouri State 3, Memphis 1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-18, 25-13)
 
Memphis fell from the ranks of the national unbeaten after Southeast Missouri State derailed the 11-0 start for the Tigers with a 25-21, 25-27, 25-18, 25-13 win in Memphis, Tennessee.
