Niumatalo Wins 100th as Navy Edges Temple, 31-29

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Fullback Nelson Smith rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns as Navy improved to 2-0 in American Athletic Conference play with a 31-29 victory against Temple Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

The win marked the 100th career head coaching victory for Navy’s Ken Niumatalolo, who becomes the sixth active FBS head coach with 100 career wins at one school.

The Midshipmen, who have won their two conference games by a combined five points, turned away Temple’s bid for the tying two-point coversion with 1:02 left to secure the victory.

Navy quarterback Dalen Morris engineered an offense that finished with 253 rushing yards and 301 total yards.

Temple, which was playing its season-opener, saw quarterback Anthony Russo account for three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing), while Re’Mahn Davis rushed for 97 yards and a TD. 

Owls linebacker Isaiah Graham-Mobley registered a game-high 14 tackles with a sack and eight solo tackles against Navy.
