No. 1 Washington 12, UCF 3 (Orlando, Florida)
No. RV UCF welcomed the top-ranked team in the country to the UCF Softball Stadium on Wednesday night, and a seven-run top of the seventh inning for No. 1 Washington broke open a 12-3 win for the visiting Huskies. The Knights had closed the gap to just 5-3 following a two-run bottom of the sixth frame before the Washington surge in the final inning.
Juliana Wilson finished the game 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Jada Cody and Takiya London also scored runs for UCF. Karissa Ornelas reached in two of her three plate appearances for the Knights.
Alea White was saddled with the loss after scattering six hits and allowing five earned runs in two innings in the circle.
No. 16 Oklahoma State 5, USF 1 (St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational, Clearwater, Florida)
Facing its fourth straight ranked opponent, USF battled No. 16 Oklahoma State gamely in a 5-1 defeat on the opening day of the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. The Bulls outhit the Cowgirls 7-5 during the matchup.
