USF's Ferguson Named Men's Tennis Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors for the week-ending January 25.

Ferguson went 2-1 in both singles and doubles play to lead the Bulls to a pair of wins in their first three dual matches of the 2020-21 season. His two singles wins came in straight sets at the No. 1 position and were instrumental in USF’s 4-3 victories against Clemson and Auburn. Ferguson’s 7-5, 7-6 (2) win against Clemson gave the Bulls a 3-2 lead, while his 7-6 (5), 6-4 victory against Auburn tied the match at 2-2 after the Tigers had taken the first two team points. Ferguson also paired with Pierre Luquet for a pair of doubles wins, including a 6-4 decision at No. 2 in the Bulls’ match against No. 9 Florida.
