No. 1 Rice, No. 6 Tulsa Reach Final Match Of American Men’s Tennis Championship

TULSA, Okla. – No. 1 seed Rice and No. 6 seed Tulsa will collide in the final of the 2026 American Conference Men’s Tennis Championship on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center after advancing through semifinal play.

Top-seeded Rice held off No. 4 South Florida 4-1 in its bid to defend its American tournament title. Tulsa pulled a second straight upset by taking down No. 2 Charlotte 4-2, reaching its third American final in the process.

The championship match is scheduled for Noon CT on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, with John Liddle, Jeff Moore and Breanna Sorensen on the call on ESPN+. Rice 4, South Florida 1 (Box Score)
Records: Rice (15-7), South Florida (11-14)

Top-seeded Rice kept its tournament title defense alive with a 4-1 win over a game No. 4 South Florida squad. The Owls notched the doubles point thanks to wins at the number one court by Petro Kuzmenok and Santiago Navarro (7-6) and Kabeer Kapasi and Yair Sarouk (6-1).
 
Navarro contributed a second point on the day thanks to a 6-4, 6-4 sweep at the second singles court. Other Rice singles winners were Rafael Botran (6-3, 5-7, 6-3) at the third singles position and Noey Do (2-6, 6-4, 7-5) at sixth singles.

Gughi Verdese captured the lone point for South Florida with a 6-3, 6-3 result at the fifth singles court.
 
 
 
Tulsa 4, Charlotte 2 (Box Score)
Records: Tulsa (18-12), Charlotte (15-8)

Host Tulsa returned to the American championship match on its home soil as the tournament’s six-seed after downing No. 2 Charlotte 4-2. Nikita Volonski and Timo Carlsson Seger (6-4) and Victor Tosetto and Gus Tettamble (6-2) brought home the doubles point to provide the Golden Hurricane with a 1-0 lead.

Carlsson Seger (6-2, 6-2) and Tosetto (1-6, 6-4, 6-4) added singles victories on the day for Tulsa, along with a triumph from Reiya Komagata by a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 margin to clinch the match.

Charlotte saw singles wins by both Andres Medus (7-5, 6-1) and Mortiz Muenster (6-4, 6-3) in the semifinal setback.
