IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 14.
Player of the Week
Bailey Ledvina * So. * IF * East Carolina
Ledvina was a force for East Carolina at the plate in a pair of wins against Furman to begin the season, leading all American players with three home runs, a 1.750 slugging percentage and seven RBI after opening weekend. Ledvina went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI against Furman in game one of a doubleheader on Feb. 12 before adding three hits including a home, three RBI and three runs in the nightcap against the Paladins.
Pitcher of the Week
Hailey Hudson * Fr. * RHP * Houston
Hudson enjoyed a memorable first career start for Houston, spinning a five-inning no-hitter against Texas Southern during a run-rule win for the Cougars on Feb. 13. Hudson allowed only three base runners during the game, walking one batter while striking out four on 61 pitches. No Texas Southern runner was able to advance past second base in the game.
Weekly Honor Roll
Georgia Blair * Sr. * IF * UCF
Batted .462 with three home runs and seven RBI for UCF in a 3-1 weekend at FGCU; went 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and three runs in game one against FGCU (Feb. 13)
Gianna Mancha * Sr. * RHP * UCF
Went 1-0 with one save in three appearances (one start) against FGCU; threw five shutout innings with four hits, one walk and five strikeouts to earn the win on Feb. 13
Britaney Shaw * So. * IF * Houston
Led The American with a .714 batting average and .800 on-base percentage in a 2-1 Houston week; scored a pair of runs in a game one win against Lamar (Feb. 12) before going 3-for-3 with an RBI and run scored in the nightcap
Erin Poepping * Jr. * RHP * East Carolina
Went 1-0 with one save for East Carolina during a doubleheader sweep of Furman on Feb. 12; picked up the save with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts in game one before allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight in four innings to earn the win in game two
Brooke Hartmann * Sr. * IF * USF
Went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored against No. 7/6 Florida on Feb. 13
