No. 12 SMU women's rowing will make it first trip in program history to the 2021 NCAA Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida, May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park. The 22-team championship begins on Friday, May 28 with the Varsity 8 competing at 9:12 a.m ET. The Second Varsity 8 will then take the water at 9:48 a.m. ET. Lastly, the Varsity 4 will take on its heat at 10:36 a.m. ET.
SMU's Varsity 8 earned the highest event seed in American Athletic Conference history at No. 10. The Second Varsity 8 came in at No. 9 which was also an conference record-high seed for the event. Lastly the Mustangs' Varsity 4 will be the No. 16 seed.
SMU won its first conference championship in program history at the American Athletic Conference Championships on May 16. The Mustangs had a clean sweep, winning all four races at Melton Lake. With the championship crown, SMU earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
SMU opened the 2021 season by coming in the POCOCK USROWING/CRCA preseason rankings at No. 20. The Mustangs have since moved their way up as far as No. 11 this year, which marks the highest ranking in program history.
HISTORIC SEASON

- V8+ Boat – Earned American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week twice in this shortened season
- V8+ (10th Seed) – highest event seed in that event in AAC history
