GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the first road trip of the UCF women's soccer young season, the No. 19 Knights (2-0-0) earned their second shutout victory in as many games, defeating Florida (0-2-1) in Gainesville Thursday evening. The 2-0 victory also marks the third straight shutout victory over Florida, dating back to 2018.
The Black and Gold earned the early lead as Trescott Shamlou battled through the opposing back line, collected the loose ball, and scored her first goal of the season just 14 minutes into the contest.
UCF continued to put pressure on Florida as Maggie Jenkins earned a foul in the penalty box in two straight games, just past the 40-minute mark. Darya Rajaee stepped up to the spot and buried the penalty kick for her second goal of the season.
This is the third straight victory over the Gators comes after a 3-0 win at home in 2018 and 2-0 victory on the road in 2019.
Darya Rajaee's 41st minute penalty kick goal was her second in two games and her third of her collegiate caree. Reigning American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, Caroline DeLisle earned her second clean sheet of the 2021 campaign, making five saves in the contest

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers scored six goals in the first half en route to an 8-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Thursday night on the Park Avenue Campus in Memphis, Tenn.
The eight goals are Memphis' most since scoring eight in a blanking of Marshall on Oct. 1, 2006. Memphis is now 2-0-1 on the season, and UAPB falls to 0-3-0.
Memphis scored three times in the first nine minutes of the game, including just 66 seconds into the contest when Haylee Spray opened the scoring.
Tanya Boychuk scored her first two goals of the season in the eighth and 20th minutes. Aubrey Mister had a ninth-minute goal and an assist on Boychuk's first score.
Claire Abrey and Rebecca Calderoni Martinez scored Memphis' fifth and sixth goals of the half, and Lara Kazandjian found the back of the net in the 66th and 85th minutes.

Omaha, Neb. – The Tulsa women’s soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Creighton on Thursday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane moved to 1-2 on the season, while the Bluejays fell to 2-1 overall.
Jadyn Chee recorded her first collegiate goal in the 87th minute as she took the ball up the left side and shot from 18 yards out from left to right off an assist from Kayla Fernandez.
Creighton had a 15-8 lead in shots, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal, and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
Karsen Aguirre had a team-best three shots, while five others had one attempt. Emma Malsy logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up eight saves.
Houston 4, Stephen F. Austin 4 (2OT) -

HOUSTON – Houston Soccer was back on home turf Thursday where it tied in-state rival Stephen F. Austin 4-4 after two periods of extra time. The Cougars endured weather challenges early in the second half which resulted in a one hour and 28 minute lightning delay.
Entering halftime, Houston (2-0-1) was tied 1-1 with the Ladyjacks (0-1-2) with a single goal scored by graduate student Zionah Browne, assisted by redshirt senior Jazmin Grant. With a pass from Grant, Browne was able to put it in the bottom left of the net putting the Cougars on the board. In the 23rd minute, SFA answered with a score of its own tying up the match.
Houston entered the second half ready to break the tie, but the weather put the match on hold around 8:17 p.m., approximately only 10 minutes into the half. Resuming play after multiple lightning strikes in and around the area, the Cougars were able to restart its press despite the delay. Late in the 53rd minute, redshirt freshman Caitlyn Matthews, with an assist by Browne, pushed the score to 2-1. Soon after, the Ladyjacks tied the score again bringing the match to 2-2.
In the 67th minute, Houston used an own goal by SFA to take advantage following a corner kick by redshirt senior Mia Brascia. A penalty kick goal scored by the Ladyjacks put them back into a tie with the Cougars, followed by another SFA score shortly after. Houston brought the board back to a tie with a score in the 87th minute by sophomore Madison Gear who shot off her right foot to put it in the center of the goal.
With the conclusion of regulation, the Cougars and Ladyjacks entered a golden goal-style period of overtime. Neither team was able to put the ball in the net, resulting in a second round of extra time. With a sudden death looming over Houston and SFA, again the clock ran out of time without a score from either team.
LSU 2, South Florida 1 -

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 26, 2021 – A goal in the 90th minute rallied LSU past the University of South Florida women's soccer team, 2-1, on Thursday afternoon. The loss is the Bulls' first in the regular season since Oct. 31, 2019.
Sydney Martinez made four saves while Syndy Nasello scored her second goal in as many games.
LSU opened the scoring in the 12th minute, with Athena Kuehn finding the back of the net off an assist from Rammie Noel. The Tigers would take the lead into the halftime break.
Both teams emerged from the locker room briefly after the half, but were sent back after five minutes of game time because of lightning in the area. After an hour delay, USF came back out strong and drew a PK by forcing a foul. Nasello took the kick and scored to even the game at 1-1 in the 66th minute.
The game seemed destined for overtime until LSU broke away with less than 30 seconds left. Maddie Moreau scored the game-winner with only 23 seconds left to give the Tigers the victory.
Xavier 1, Cincinnati 0 -

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati soccer team fell in a hard-fought, 1-0 battle against cross-town rival Xavier on Thursday night. UC moves to 1-1-1 on the new season while Xavier improves to 3-0-0.
The first half was a tight, physical battle as both sides tallied 12 fouls in the first half. Xavier had five shots to Cincinnati's one, from Vanessa DiNardo, in the opening period.
Both sides came out of the break with a bit more energy and a great save from Xavier's Olivia Jenkins on the ground kept it scoreless in the 56th minutes after Maddy Pittman's shot.
The Musketeers broke through in the 81st minute on a goal from Chloe Netzel. The Bearcats were unable to clear a cross from the Musketeers, and Netzel settled the ball and slotted it home in the bottom-right corner from the edge of the penalty area.
South Carolina 3, East Carolina 1 -

GREENVILLE, N.C. – In the first game against a ranked opponent, the East Carolina soccer team came up short, falling to No. 10 South Carolina on Thursday.
ECU falls to 1-2-0 on the season while South Carolina stays perfect at 2-0-0.
The Gamecocks pressed forward in the early going, but East Carolina goalkeeper Maeve English helped make sure there was not an early goal. The Greenville, N.C., native made four saves in the opening 24 minutes. On the other end, the Pirates nearly took the lead when Tori Riggs launched a long shot in the 25th minute that just cleared the South Carolina crossbar.
However, the breakthrough finally came in the 33rd minute for the Gamecocks. Corinna Zullo collected the ball on the right wing and surged into the East Carolina box. She lofted a shot that was able to tuck into the far post to open the scoring.
South Carolina doubled its lead soon in the 55th minute. On a corner kick, Lauren Chang swung a cross into the far post where Jyllissa Harris was able to rise up and head it home.
The pressure continued on the Pirates' goal, but English kept the Gamecocks at bay with a flurry of saves. On one sequence, Zullo got free on a breakway, but English blocked her initial shot and then scrambled back to make another save on a Megan Spiehs attempt.
The Gamecocks salted the game away in the 70th minute. After some tight play in the right side of the ECU box, Payton Patrick slipped a pass to Eveleen Hahn and Hanh curled a shot into the far post.
East Carolina got a consolation goal in the 84th minute. An East Carolina free kick was floated into the South Carolina box and was cleared out, but only as far as the top of the penalty area. Sierra Lowery was there waiting and she curled in a one-time effort into the bottom corner of the goal for her first career tally as a Pirate.
