East Carolina 1, Campbell 0 - Box Score
GREENVILLE, N.C. – For the second straight game, the East Carolina soccer team grabbed the game-winning goal late in the match, as the Pirates beat Campbell 1-0 on Thursday night in Johnson Stadium.

ECU improves to 3-2-0 on the season while Campbell falls to 1-2-1.

In a match with very few good offensive opportunities, the Pirates had the best chance of the opening half. In the 15th minute, the Pirates launched a ball into the Campbell box. As the ball bounced around, it fell to Taylor Kibble. Unfortunately for ECU, Kibble's effort was smothered by Campbell goalkeeper Reaghan Duval. For the remainder of the first stanza, Samantha Moxie and Alexia Moore both took long-range shots that Duval made stops on while Campbell could only muster a pair of shots that missed the Pirate goal.

Coming out of the locker room for the second half, ECU nearly took the lead in the 57th minute. Haley McWhirter found space just outside the Campbell penalty area and lined up a shot with her right foot. The effort had Duval beat, but dragged just outside of the left goalpost for a Campbell goal kick.

After McWhirter's effort, neither team could create any meaningful looks on goal for the next 20 minutes. That finally changed in the 77th minute. A Campbell foul on Holly Schlagel gave East Carolina a free kick on the right side. Morgan Dewey swung in the spot kick towards the back post. The ball bounced around with Abby Sowa trying to turn it towards the goal. Sowa could not get much power on her attempt, but she did enough to get it to Kim Sanford who did the rest by knocking the ball off a Camel defender and into the goal. Sanford is the ninth goal scorer of the season for East Carolina as no Pirate has scored multiple goals yet this year.

Cincinnati 2, Ball State 1 - Box Score
CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati soccer team held on for a 2-1 victory over the Ball State Cardinals on Thursday night at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats improved to 3-1-1.

The first half was a physical battle in the midfield as both teams came close to scoring with Ball State hitting the post. It was in the 38th minute when Paige Miller scored her first career goal for the Bearcats and gave them the 1-0 lead. DiNardo collected the ball on the left wing and swung in a cross that Miller headed right over the goalie. Karli Royer scored her second goal in as many games in the 54th minute. A cross cleared by the Cardinals fell right to the defender who curled in a shot from way outside the box for a 2-0 lead.

Ball State pulled a goal back in the 87th minute when the Bearcats failed to deal with a cross and Kennedy Metzger headed home a cross from the left wing. Anna Rexford recorded a save in the 90th minute to secure the victory.

Memphis 1, Kansas 0 - Box Score
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following tonight's 1-0 win over Kansas, the Memphis Tigers are just one of two American Athletic Conference teams to still hold an undefeated record.

With tonight's win, the Tigers moved to 4-0-1 for the season.

After a physical 45 minutes, the Tigers gained the 1-0 lead just before halftime when Grace Stordy headed in her first goal of the season off a corner kick.

Elizabeth Moberg made a crucial save early in the match when Kansas' Raena Childers fired off a shot as she came across the box.

Moberg would make another vital save midway through the second half to keep the Tigers ahead.

Houston 3, Lamar 0 - Box Score
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer program earned another season win by defeating Lamar 3-0 on Thursday at the Carl Lewis International Complex. The Cougars have improved to 4-0-1 on the season which is the best start since 2016.

Goalkeeper Mikaela Gracia earned her second clean sheet in a row by shutting out the Cardinals (1-3-0) with her impressive performance in the net. This is also her second clean sheet of the season. Similar to her performance on Sunday, in 90 minutes of time in the net, she recorded one save.

Redshirt freshman Nadia Kamassah, with an assist by graduate student Zionah Browne, did not waste any time getting a score on the board. The pair worked together to score within the first minute of the match. Kamassah now has two goals on the season after scoring her first to seal the win in extra time at McNeese.

Redshirt senior Mia Brascia saw 81 total minutes of play to add to her 309 total minutes in the last four games. She added an assist to her season statistics as well which aided senior Emma Clarke with the second goal of the match shortly after halftime in the 47th minute.

Browne later added another assist to her tally when she passed the ball to sophomore Janna Singleton who scored the game finisher, and her first goal of the season, late in the 86th minute. Singleton made her Houston Soccer debut on Sunday against Houston Baptist.

Houston was able to keep Lamar from getting any score on the board resulting in the second 3-0 shutout in a row this season.

Ohio State 4, UCF 2 - Box Score
Columbus, Ohio – In the second road match of the young season, the UCF women's soccer team fell to Ohio State 4-2 Thursday evening. The Black and Gold move to 2-2-0 on the year, and 0-1-1 all-time against the Buckeyes.

Ohio State jumped out to an early lead thanks to a goal in the first five minutes of the match and extended the lead to 2-0 just before half. Just minutes into the second half, the Buckeyes extended the lead to 3-0.

Down three goals, the Knights mounted a comeback, as Katie Bradley netted her first goal of the campaign. Just three minutes later, Ellie Moreno scored her first of the year as well. That's as far as the comeback would go, as Ohio State extended the lead to two goals.

Tennessee 2, South Florida 0 - Box Score
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida women's soccer team couldn't overcome two late goals from No. 22 Tennessee, dropping a 2-0 contest on a rainy Thursday night at Corbett Stadium.

Sydney Martinez made eight saves in net, the most since she made 10 saves against Memphis on Oct. 14, 2018. Sydny Nasello took five shots with one going on net to lead USF's (3-2-0) offense in the game.

Both teams battled throughout the first half. Martinez made six of her eight saves in the first half, while Nasello and Paula Leblic both struck the woodwork in the frame.

Emerging from halftime still tied at zero, the struggle to get on the board first continued into the second half. USF took nine shots in the second half, however only two went on net.

Ultimately, Tennessee (5-0-0) opened the scoring in the 74th minute, with Brooke Wilson finding the back of the net off an assist from Jordan Fusco. The Lady Vols would add an insurance goal just over eight minutes later off the foot of Mackenzie George, securing a 2-0 victory.

Towson 2, Temple 0 - Box Score
Towson, Md. – Temple women's soccer (0-2-2, 0-0-0 AAC) dropped to Towson (2-1-2, 0-0-0 CAA) with a final score of 2-0 on Thursday night. A dominant second half performance from the Tigers led to a two goal advantage to secure the win.

Just five minutes into regulation, goalkeeper Kamryn Stablein made back-to-back saves, including a penalty kick stop to slow the Tigers momentum and keep the game scoreless.

Hailey Gutowski entered the second half as an offensive force, finding an opportunity in the 57th minute. Gutowski looked for the go-ahead goal, but Towson goalkeeper Riley Melendez was able to come up with the save to hold the Owls scoreless.

Just five minutes later, Towson broke the deadlock off a free kick sent in by Demi Pierre. Stablein made the initial save, but the deflection back into the box found the foot of Jasmine Hamid who one-timed the ball into the top left corner of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

The Tigers offense did not let up and with two minutes remaining, Nia Christopher snuck behind her defender to find herself one on one with Stablein. Christopher shifted around Stablein, tapping the ball into the back of the net to secure the 2-0 win.
