TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 16, 2022 – Freshman Haizea Aretxabala Blanco's first collegiate goal was the deciding factor in the University of South Florida women's soccer team's 2-1 win over the East Carolina Pirates on Sunday afternoon.
With less than 10 minutes to go and the match tied at one, Serita Thurton charged the ball down the field to the ECU goal. Her shot deflected off Blanco into the net to give the Bulls the 2-1 lead.
In the 36th minute, Samantha Moxie found the back of the net to give the Pirates the early lead. Chiara Hahn had the Bulls last two shots of the half, one off target and the other blocked.
The Bulls were on the verge of scoring with Chiara Hahn holding possession of the ball in the box. A foul on the Pirates gave South Florida the penalty kick. Lucy Roberts took the kick and tied the match at one.
Memphis 2, Temple 0 -

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Coming off their first AAC win of the season, the Tigers looked to add another win to the column. They did just that as they earned a 2-0 victory over Temple this afternoon.
Memphis moved to 6-4-4 for the season and 2-1-3 in American Athletic Conference play, while Temple fell to 1-8-4 (0-5-0 American).
The Memphis offense struck quick and often to open the match, getting four shots on-goal in the opening 17 minutes before Mya Jones snuck a shot past Temple goalkeeper Kyla Burns for the 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.
While the Memphis offense continued to attack, the Tiger defense held the Owls to just one shot in the opening 45 minutes including a save by Claire Wyville.
Haylee Spray netted an insurance goal for Memphis in the 66' off a corner kick on the far side.
UCF 3, Tulsa 2 -

TULSA, Oklahoma – The UCF women's soccer team stays undefeated in the conference, picking up three points with a 3-2 victory against the Golden Hurricane in Tulsa, Oklahoma Sunday afternoon at Hurricane Stadium.
After the Golden Hurricane (7-5-3, 2-2-2 American) took the early lead on a goal by Madison Tokarchik in the sixth minute, UCF (6-2-4, 4-0-1 American) came back and went into halftime with a 2-1 lead after goals from Kristen Scott (23rd minute) and Dayana Martin (28th minute).
Tulsa tied the game on a goal by Isold Runarsdottir in the 52nd minute, but Scott for her second of the day and was assisted by Martin in the 60th minute for the game-winning goal.
The Black and Gold stand alone on top of the conference with 13 points, one ahead of USF in second.

DALLAS – SMU scored in the 87th minute to complete the rally from a two-goal deficit for a 2-2 tie against Cincinnati at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium on Sunday.
The Mustangs (6-3-5, 1-3-2 American) tied the match in the 87th minute then Abby Dermott drew a foul in the box to get the Mustangs another penalty kick opportunity. Courtney Sebazco converted in the lower left for the Mustangs' second goal of the match.
Wayny Balata put SMU on the board in the 36th minute as she converted a penalty kick into the lower left of the goal. Balata drew the foul in the box that gave the Mustangs the opportunity.
The Mustangs found themselves trailing 2-0 in the 32nd minute when Maddie Thiss converted a penalty kick. Emma Schmelzer scored the first goal for UC (5-2-6, 1-1-3 American) when she headed a corner kick into the net in the 14th minute.
