GREENVILLE, N.C.— The No. 24 UCF volleyball team (24-1, 16-1 American) extended its win streak to 12 for the second time this season with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-20, 25-14) over East Carolina (10-19, 5-12 AAC) on Friday night in Williams Arena.
 
McKenna Melville led the Knights off with a kill to start set one. UCF went on a 4-0 run to end the set, 25-18. The Black and Gold recorded a total of 19 kills in the opening set.
 
Claudia Dillon sparked a 5-0 run to start off set two with a kill. The Knights cruised on through to take set two, 25-20. Amber Olson and Melville ended the set with nine digs each.
 
The Pirates took the lead for the first time in set three with a service error from the Knights. UCF bounced back with a 3-0 run ignited with a kill from Kari Zumach. The Knights continued to pace their way to a 25-14 win.
 
Melville led the offense with 22 kills, tallying 14 digs and adding in two aces and blocks, respectively. Abby Hansen recorded 10 kills and two blocks.
 
Olson led with 40 assists adding in 11 digs.
 
South Florida 3, Temple 2 – Box Score
Philadelphia, Pa. – The University of South Florida Bulls (10-17, 4-11 American) opened their weekend slate with a comeback win at Temple (10-18,4-13 American) after a five-set battle on Friday night.
 
South Florida took the match against Temple by set scores of 19-25, 29-31, 25-23, 25-23, 15-9.
 
Freshman Yasmin Shaw paced the Bulls with her first double digits of the season and new career high of 16 kills on an impressive .609 hitting percentage. Shaw and Amanda DeWitt also led the team with four total blocks apiece.
 
Maria Clara Andrade, Ally Barnhart and DeWitt also posted double digit kills for the Bulls. Barnhart posted a new career high on a .643 hitting percentage while DeWitt claimed her 400th career kill.
 
Tatiana Johnson posted her first double-doubles of the season with 20 assists and 10 digs. Kelsey O'Loughlin contributed with another 31 assists for the Bulls.
 
CC Clausen led the Bulls' back row with 29 digs, followed by Johnson. Marta Cvitkovic and Andrade posted nine digs apiece. Cvitkovic also claimed her 500th career dig.
 
Clausen finished the night with 1,995 total career digs and approaches her 2,000th mark after breaking USF's all-time dig record earlier in the season.
 
SMU 3, Tulane 0 – Box Score
NEW ORLEANS – SMU rode an efficient offense and a dominating defense to a sweep over Tulane in American Athletics Conference action at Avron B. Fogelman Arena Friday.
 
Knotted at five in the opening game, the Mustangs grabbed the lead for good on a service error by the Green Wave.
 
A pair of service aces from Jentry Laminrand and an attack error by the opposition pushed the Mustangs out to 9-5. They built a seven-point cushion at the media timeout, leading 15-8. Tulane responded with a 5-1 spurt to close within three at 16-13, but SMU secured the early advantage on Jamison Wheeler's sixth kill of the set.
 
In the second game, Tulane evened things at 1-1, the last tie of the night. The Mustangs converted 8 of 9 sideout opportunities and outhit the home side .333 (14-1-39) to -.025 (6-7-40). Jadyn Bauss slammed home set point, giving the Mustangs their four-straight 2-0 lead.
 
The Green Wave remained within striking distance through the first half of the third. A service error from the guest cut the cushion to two at 17-15. Tulane committed two miscues, followed by three successful attacks from the right arm of Wheeler pushed the Mustangs to gap out to 22-15. After trading the next two points, Wheeler set her team up with eight match-points. She cashed in the winner two rallies later, closing out the fourth sweep in succession for SMU.
 
Houston 3, Memphis 0 – Box Score
HOUSTON – The No. 23 University of Houston volleyball team posted a program-record 18th consecutive win, earning a straight-set win over Memphis on Friday night in the Fertitta Center. The streak surpasses a 17-match stretch without a loss in 1994, a team that went on to reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.
 
Houston (26-2, 17-0 The American) hasn't lost a match since Sept. 15 and has only lost twice, both losses coming to teams now ranked in the AVCA Poll. The Cougars' 18-match winning streak is the third-longest active streak in the country. Houston also pushes a win streak against Memphis (17-13, 7-10 The American) to nine games.
 
Sophomore Kellen Morin paced the team with a .818 hitting percentage, posting nine kills on 11 attempts with no errors. Senior Abbie Jackson led the match with 11 kills, extending her streak of matches with 10-or-more kills to 15.
 
Both senior Morgan Janda and senior Abbie Jackson posted double-doubles in the win. Janda earned her fifth of the season and fourth in the last five matches with a match-leading 23 assists and 10 digs, while Jackson tallied her eighth of the year with 11 kills and 10 digs.
 
Four Cougars posted double-digit digs in the match, with junior Kate Georgiades' 23 and graduate Kennedy Warren's 10 joining the Janda and Jackson's 10 dig performances.
 
Cincinnati 3, Tulsa 0 – Box Score
CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team dominated past Tulsa in three sets on Friday afternoon at the Reynolds Center in Tulsa, Okla.
 
The Bearcats swept the Golden Hurricane to improve to 9-18 overall, 7-10 in The American. Cincinnati hit a season-high .344 with 40 kills on 96 swings. UC had a season-low seven attacking errors in the match.
 
Sophomore Abby Walker registered a team-high 11 kills with only two attacking errors on 16 attempts for a season-best .562 hitting percentage. It marked her 10th match with double-digit kills this season.
 
Sophomore Shaye Eggleston posted her seventh double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Carly Glendinning added eight kills, 10 digs and three blocks in the victory.
 
Senior libero Payton Frederick recorded a match-high 16 digs – the most by a Bearcat in a three-set match this season. She helped the Bearcats own a +13 advantage in total digs (58-45).
 
Cincinnati outblocked Tulsa, eight to five. Walker led the way with four blocks while redshirt senior Kailea Carrier notched three blocks to go along with seven kills (.429).
