Wichita State’s Barnard, South Florida’s Corrick Win Season’s First Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, February 13.
 
Player of the Week
Addison Barnard * So. * UTL * Wichita State
Barnard was one of the toughest outs in The American during the opening weekend, batting .500 with a conference-high three home runs, nine stolen bases in 10 attempts and 11 runs scored for 4-1 Wichita State at Sam Houston State. Barnard added seven RBI, a .600 on-base percentage and a 1.063 slugging percentage. Barnard began the season with a 2-for-3 effort with a home run, two RBI, three stolen bases and four runs against Dayton on Feb. 11, three RBI and two steals versus Sam Houston on Feb. 11, and closed the weekend reaching base five times, swiping two bags and scoring five runs against Sam Houston on Feb. 13.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Sr. * RHP * South Florida
Corrick became The American’s all-time leader in strikeouts during a standout weekend for South Florida at the USF-Rawlings Invitational. Corrick logged a 2-0 mark and 0.00 ERA in three appearances (two starts), yielding no walks and striking out 22 batters in 13 full innings of work. Corrick worked five innings of two-hit softball, allowing two unearned runs and striking out nine in a win over Illinois State on Feb. 10. Corrick established the conference career strikeouts record in a 4-1 win over No. 16/13 Michigan on Feb. 12, scattering six hits and punching out 11 batters in a complete game victory.

Batted .500 with a home run, eight RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage for 4-1 UCF; went 2-for-3 with two runs in a walk-off win over No. 12/19 Georgia (Feb. 10) and added four RBI each in wins over Fresno State (Feb. 12) and Longwood (Feb. 12)
 
Faith Jarvis * Jr. * OF * East Carolina
Recorded a .444 batting average with eight base hits, three stolen bases and four runs scored for East Carolina; posted multi-hit games against Purdue (3, Feb. 11), Georgetown (2, Feb. 12) and a second game with Purdue (2, Feb. 12)
 
Becca Schulte * Grad * IF * Houston
Logged a .357 batting average with two home runs and tied for the league lead with nine RBI in a 4-1 Houston weekend; smashed two home runs and drove in four runs against UTSA (Feb. 11) and accounted for three RBI and two runs against Dayton (Feb. 13)
 
Kenna Wilkey * Sr. * RHP * Houston
Went a perfect 2-0 with a 0.53 ERA over four appearances (two starts) in debut weekend with Houston; spun four innings of one-hit ball with two walks and seven strikeouts against UTSA (Feb. 11) and tossed a complete game four-hitter against Texas Tech (Feb. 13)
 
Celeste Wood * Fr. * IF * Tulsa
Batted .375 with a conference-high three doubles, two triples and nine RBI for Tulsa; erupted for four hits, including three doubles, and eight RBI in a 12-inning win over UAB (Feb. 13)
