East Carolina rolled to a doubleheader sweep at home against Elon, winning game one 8-0 in six innings before blanking the Phoenix 3-0 in the nightcap. The Pirated belted out 14 hits on the way to scoring 11 runs on the day, holding Elon to just five total hits over two games.
Logyn Estes drove in two runs in the game one win for ECU, and Chandley Garner ripped two hits and scored a pair of runs. Estes contributed two RBI in the nightcap victory against the Phoenix.
Estes (4-1) aided her own cause in the circle in game one, spinning a two-hit shutout with no walks and seven strikeouts to claim the pitching victory. Madisyn Davis (4-1) went the distance in game two and struck out four while issuing just one walk.
No. 24/25 UCF 11, Ohio State (RV) 3 (6)
No. 24/25 UCF raced past Ohio State in what was billed as a marquee contest in Orlando, downing the Buckeyes 11-3 in six innings. The Knights forced four Ohio State errors and logged 12 hits on the night.
Shannon Doherty went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs in the win for UCF. Ashleigh Griffin added three hits and drove in four runs for the Knights. Kennedy Searcy also came across to score two runs in the UCF lineup.
No. 15/14 Tennessee 8, Memphis 4
Memphis raced out to an early lead but was unable to hold off No. 15/14 Tennessee in an 8-4 loss in Columbia, Tennessee. The Tigers scored four runs in the top of the first inning but were held to just one hit the remainder of the game.
Taylor Smrt clubbed a three-run home run and Kendall Lee ripped two hits and drove in a run in defeat for Memphis.
