Wichita State erupted for 24 runs on 23 hits in just five innings to take the first game of a weekend set at East Carolina, downing the Pirates 24-1 in a run-rule win. The hits and runs marks were Wichita State program records, along with 10 home runs in the contest. The Shockers’ seven home runs in the second inning are believed to be an NCAA record.
 
Reigning National Player of the Week Addison Barnard went a perfect 4-for-4 with three home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored in the Wichita State win. Zoe Jones blasted two home runs and also drove in seven runs, while Sydney McKinney ripped three hits and scored four runs on the night.

No. 21/20 UCF rode an impressive two-hit shutout from Gianna Mancha on the way to a 2-0 home win against Tulsa to stay a game in front in The American season standings at 12-1. The Knights scratched out two runs in the bottom of the third inning on the way to victory.
 
Jada Cody went 2-for-2 with the game-winning RBI single to power the UCF offensive attack. Kennedy Searcy reached base on three different occasions, adding a pair of hits and a run in the triumph.
 
Mancha (18-3) yielded walked three and struck out five Tulsa batters in the shutout for UCF. A total of 72 of 114 Mancha pitches on the night registered as strikes.
