TULSA, Okla. -- JT Daniels passed for 342 yards and two touchdowns as Rice reeled off 512 yards of offense in a 42-10 win at Tulsa Thursday night at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
Running back Dean Connors rushed for a career-high 120 yards and three touchdowns, turning his first career 100-yard game for the Owls, who improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the American Athletic Conference.
Daniels surpassed 300 passing yards for the fourth time this season and added a rushing touchdown - only the second of his career - as Rice scored touchdowns on its last four possessions that weren't ended by the end of a half.
Rice had three scoring drives of less than a minute in the first half, but strung together two lengthy drives in the second half to put the game away. Connors capped an eight-minute, five-second possession with a dive over the top from the 2-yard line late in the third quarter and he added a 10-yard run with 2:58 left in the fourth to cap a 14-play, 96-yard drive that spanned 9:56.
Rice's defense forced three turnovers, which turned into 14 points.
Luke McCaffrey had six receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown for the Owls.
Tulsa, which used two quarterbacks through the game, saw Cardell Williams go 7-for-14 for 101 yards and a touchdown, while Braylon Braxton had a team-high 89 rushing yards.
Rice's three scoring drives in the first half totaled 2:17 in possession time. The Owls' three second-half scoring drives totaled 21:29.
