AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marie Mattel • Sr. • UCF • Le Plessis-Bouchard, France
Mattel went 3-0 at No. 1 singles, including two wins against nationally ranked players, and scored a doubles win against a ranked tandem in a busy week for UCF. She won all three singles matches in straight sets, knocking off the top players from FIU, No. 14 Vanderbilt and No. 24 Tennessee. Mattel, who is ranked No. 31 in singles this week, defeated the No. 34 and No. 65-ranked players from Vanderbilt and Tennessee, respectively. She paired with Noel Saidenova for a 6-4 doubles win against FIU's top tandem, which was ranked No. 44. Mattel improved to 5-1 in singles matches in the 2023 dual season for the No. 14-ranked Knights.
