The UCF Knights softball team used a two-inning sixth inning to take down Toledo at the UCF Softball Complex on Friday, defeating the Rockets 2-0 to improve to 11-13 on the season.
Grace Jewell threw a complete game shutout for the Knights, allowing no runs in 7.0 innings pitched, while giving up just four hits. Jada Cody reached on a fielder’s choice in the 6
th inning to give the Knights a 1-0 lead before Aubrey Evans followed with a double to left center to increase the lead to 2-0.
Houston 7, Tarleton 0 - Box Score
The University of Houston softball team cruised to a 7-0 victory on Friday evening against Tarleton at the TSU Softball Complex.
Turiya Coleman led Houston (11-11) on offense, going 2 for 3 with two runs, two RBI, two stolen bases and a home run. Ja'Naiya Thomas also went 2 for 3 and added a run and a stolen base to her totals, while Katy Repa tallied a double with two RBI.
Kenna Wilkey tossed six shutout innings against Tarleton (13-12), allowing only two hits while striking out six to earn her sixth win of the season.
Wichita State 10, Nebraska 8 - Box Score
Taylor Sedlacek and Lauren Lucas combined to go 6-for-6, as No. 23 Wichita State hung on for a 10-8 win over Nebraska Friday night at Wilkins Stadium.
Wichita State (17-4) bounced back from being shut out the night before against No. 12 Stanford to earn a big win over a Nebraska team ranked in two polls and receiving votes in the other two.
Lucas was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs. Sedlacek had a career night against her home state. The Nebraska native was 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks and a season-high five RBI.
East Carolina 8, UMass 1 – Box Score
Taudrea Sinnie went 2-for-2 at the plate and Taylor Edwards hit a key three-run homerun to help East Carolina pull away and defeat UMass 8-1 in the opening game of the Purple-Gold Invitational on Friday evening inside Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
Addy Bullis (10-1) earned the win in the circle with six strikeouts and no earned runs while Julianne Bolton (2-5) gave up six earned runs in four innings for the loss.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane softball team split a two-game set against Northern Iowa on Friday to begin the Tulsa Invitational at the Collins Family Softball Complex. Tulsa moves to 11-11 on the season with the split.
The Golden Hurricane used a walk-off single by Kailyn Bearpaw in the 7
th inning to defeat UNI 4-3. Haley Morgan went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Maura Moore improved to 6-3 on the season, tossing a complete game in the process.

The Memphis Tiger softball team split day one of the Tiger Classic with a walk off win over Indiana State and dropping a 6-1 loss to North Alabama.
In game one, Memphis tied the game up at 9-9 in the 7
th inning as Meagan Chism hit a two-run single to left field in the bottom of the seventh with two outs. Neel Taylor ended the game with a walk off single up the center sending Munford home for the Tiger win.
Illinois 4, South Florida 0 – Box Score
The University of South Florida softball team fell to the Illinois Fightnin' Illini, 4-0, on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Jaden Martinez earned her sixth start of her career. She pitched five innings, allowing seven hits and one earned run. She struck out one.
Antoinette Hill and Morgan Grubb (Bartow) each pitched one inning. They both allowed one hit, while Grub allowed one walk.
