Junior pitcher Kylie Nash and sophomore Maura Moore were brilliant in the circle for the Golden Hurricane as Tulsa beat Sam Houston State 7-1 and Northern Iowa 1-0 in the second day of the Tulsa Invitational Saturday in the Collins Family Complex.
 
Tulsa improves to 13-11 on the season with the wins, while Northern Iowa moves to 10-9 and Sam Houston fell to 9-15.
 
Nash (6-6) took the ball for the opener and was fantastic throughout. She only had the one strikeout, but only walked two and the only run game on a solo home run when the game was all but over.  She set the Bearkats down in order in three innings and held them to a collective 3-for-24 (.125).
 
In the afternoon game, Moore pitched a gem in a one-hit complete game shutout. She Struck out four batters and walked four, two of which came in the final inning, while holding the Panthers to a .050 batting average against her.

The University of South Florida softball team defeated the Illinois Fightin' Illini, 2-1, and the Marist Red Foxes, 2-0, in the USF Tournament on Saturday evening.
 
Payton Dixon pitched her fifth complete game of her career. She retired four batters, catching the final batter looking, earning her the eighth win of her career in the win over Illinois.
 
UCF 9, Toledo 1– Box Score
UCF 11, Kennesaw State 5– Box Score
The UCF Knights softball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, run-ruling Toledo 9-1 in six innings to begin the day before ending with an 11-5 win over Kennesaw State. UCF returns to .500 on the season at 13-13 overall.
 
Angelina DeVoe earned her fourth win of the season against Kennesaw State, tossing 0.2 inning in the win. Grace Jewell earned her second save of the season, throwing the final three innings in shutout fashion.
 
Wichita State 10, Nebraska 1– Box Score
Missouri State 2, Wichita State 1– Box Score
No. 23 Wichita State started the day with a 10-1 run-rule of Nebraska, only to fall to Missouri State, 2-1, in the nightcap Saturday at Wilkins Stadium.
 
Wichita State scored 10 runs on 10 hits to complete the weekend sweep of Nebraska. Addison Barnard, Lauren Mills and Sydney McKinney all had multi-hit games. Barnard was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs and two RBI, while Mills was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI. McKinney scored a run, drove in a run and singled twice.
 
In game two, Alex Aguilar suffered the loss in 3.0 innings, dropping to 4-2 on the season. She allowed one run on three hits and three walks. Kenzie Schopfer threw an inning of relief and gave up a run on a hit. Alison Cooper struck out three in the final 3.0 innings. She allowed just two hits.
 
UMass 4, East Carolina 3– Box Score
East Carolina 7, Norfolk State 5– Box Score
The East Carolina softball team earned a split on day two of the Purple-Gold Invitational as the Pirates fell short against UMass 4-3 in the first game before bouncing back to defeat Norfolk State 7-5 on Saturday afternoon at Max R. Joyner Stadium.
 
Taylor Edwards was the top hitter on the day for ECU (18-6), going 3-for-3 at the plate in the Pirates' second game against Norfolk State.
 
Tarleton State 9, Houston 1– Box Score
The University of Houston softball team dropped the second game of a three-game series to the Tarleton State University Texans, 9-1, in five innings on Saturday afternoon at the TSU Softball Complex.
 
Turiya Coleman paced the Houston (11-12) offense against Tarleton (14-12), going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a double.
