Memphis Tiger softball team split their double header against Youngstown State Wednesday night. The Tigers (3-16) took the first game 2-0 before falling the game two 13-9.
In the first game, the Tigers used four Penguin errors to their advantage to pick up the win. The two teams combined for just four hits and the Tigers used single runs in the first and fourth innings to win. Hallie Siems picked up the win.
In game two, both offenses came to life, combining for 19 hits in the game. The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second quarter, but an eight-run third inning for the Penguins would be the difference in the game.
Florida 3, UCF 0 – Box Score
The UCF softball team fell to No. 8 Florida 3-0 in Gainesville on Wednesday night. The Knights fall to 10-13 on the season while the Gators improve to 15-3.
A pitchers dual took place through the first four innings as neither team could gain an advantage. The Gators struck for two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead, before earning a security run an inning later.
The Knights finished with six hits, led by Jada Cody’s 2-for-3 effort at the plate. Sarah Willian tossed 4.2 innings, allowing two runs off two hits while striking out five batters.
