TAMPA – The University of South Florida softball team (30-22, 9-6 The American) completed the series shutout sweep over the Memphis Tigers (8-40, 2-13 The American) behind 8-0 and 5-0 wins on Sunday afternoon.

South Florida outscored Memphis 18-0 over the weekend. USF hit four home runs in the series finale, tying a single-game record for the second time this season. The Bulls have tied the record eight time in program history, the last was game two over Stetson this season.

GAME 1 | USF 8, MEM 0 (5 Inn.)

South Florida sealed the series win with an 8-0 win in game two of the series highlighted by a five-run inning.

After a weather delay that lasted a little under 19 hours, the Bulls and Tigers continued their second game of the final home series of 2023.

Play resumed in the top of the third inning with USF leading 1-0, the run scored by Vivian Ponn's (Fort Myers) RBI single.

Emma Humplik (Orange, Texas) opened the scoring after the game resumed with a two-RBI double to center field.

Marissa Trivelpiece (Sugarloaf, Pa.), Humplik, and Emilee Hanlon (Dunkirk, N.Y.) drove in runs in the fifth inning, with Trivelpiece leading with two. The Bulls complete the run-rule with a bases loaded four-pitch walk to Megan Pierro (Lutz).

Jaden Martinez (Tallahassee) earned her third win of the season after holding the Tigers to 2.1 scoreless innings. Redshirt freshman Payton Dixon made her comeback after missing 43 days. She pitched the final two innings.

GAME 2 | USF 5, MEM 0

The Bulls made the home finale a homerun derby, scoring all five runs by home runs. Trivelpiece kicked off the scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run homerun, her seventh of the season.

Three more home runs came in the sixth inning, starting with back-to-back solo shots from Ponn and Trivelpiece. This is the second time this season Trivelpiece has hit two home runs in a single game.

Tieley Vaughn (Wesley Chapel) joined in with her third home run of her career to cap off the scoring.

Gabriella Nori (Weston) had a perfect game going into the fifth inning. It was broken up on a first pitch double to right-center field. She retired two batters in 5.1 innings.

UCF 4, Houston 0 – Box Score
ORLANDO – The UCF Knights defeated Houston 4-0 on Senior Night at the UCF Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon to improve to 33-19 overall and 12-3 in The American. Houston falls to 19-27 overall and 6-9 in The American.

Sarah Willis followed up her perfect game performance on Friday with a two-hit shutout over the Cougars on Sunday, striking out four batters across 7.0 innings.

The scoring started in the first inning with a Chloe Evans triple down the right field line to score one run.

The Knights added two more runs in the fourth inning with a Kennedy Searcy single to right center to push the score to 3-0.  An inning latter Macaela Macario grounded out to first base with the bases loaded to score the fourth run of the game.

Aubrey Evans, Johneisha Rowe and Macario each led the Knights with two hits in the game, while Searcy led UCF with two RBI.

Wichita State 17, Tulsa 2 – Box Score
TULSA, Okla. – No. 19 Wichita State scored both of its runs in the sixth inning to complete the come-from-behind win at Tulsa, 2-1, Sunday afternoon.

Wichita State (43-8, 16-2 The American) recorded its fourth series sweep of the season and won the 2023 American Athletic Conference regular season title outright. Wichita State heads into the final regular season contest at KU riding a 7-game win streak.

The Shockers finished the day with only five hits, all coming in the sixth inning. Sydney McKinney, Addison Barnard, Lauren Lucas, Lauren Mills and Krystin Nelson were the only Shockers to register a hit.

Wichita State used three pitchers in the win with Lauren Howell (18-2) recording the win in 3.0 innings of shutout relief, allowing just one hit. Alison Cooper surrendered five hits to go with three strikeouts and no runs. Alex Aguilar made the start, but only made it through an inning.

Behind three singles, Tulsa grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and for much of the game that lone run looked like it might be enough.

After being no-hit into the top of the sixth, Wichita State finally broke through. The Shockers scored two runs to grab a 2-1 lead behind five hits in the frame. McKinney and Barnard laid down back-to-back bunt singles to bring Lucas up in an RBI opportunity. The Shockers' leading run producer delivered with an RBI single to center in front of the diving center fielder to tie the game. With two outs, Mills produced the go-ahead run on another RBI single to center.
