Tulsa Sweeps Final Softball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, May 7.
 
Player of the Week
Haley Morgan, Sr., CF, Tulsa
Morgan helped guide the Golden Hurricane to a sweep over East Carolina to end the regular season. The centerfielder hit .500 and slugged 1.500, hitting two home runs and driving in seven RBI.  In the series opening win over the Pirates, Morgan went 3-for-4 at the plate with a homer and 5 RBI.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Maura Moore, So., P, Tulsa
Moore was untouchable in her two starts against East Carolina. The sophomore tossed two complete game shutouts in the final conference series, allowing just four hits and striking out eight batters in 12 innings of work. She started the weekend striking out three batters across 5.0 innings, before tossing 7.0 innings in the series finale and striking out five more Pirates.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Jada Cody, Jr., UTL, UCF
Cody hit .333 across three games as the Knights swept Memphis to end the season. She drove in three runs and scored an additional four times.
 
Grace Jewell, Jr., RHP, UCF
Jewell made two relief appearances for the Knights, tossing 8.0 shutout innings as she struck out four batters and allowed just four hits.
 
Taudrea Sinnie, Sr., OF, East Carolina
Sinnie hit .300 on the week for the Pirates, including going 2-for-3 at the plate in the first game of the series against Tulsa.
 
Payton Dixon, R-Fr., LHP/UTL, South Florida
Dixon threw a five-inning no-hitter against Houston to help secure the No. 3 seed in the upcoming American Softball Championship.
 
Vivian Ponn, Sr., UTL/RHP, South Florida
Ponn helped the Bulls capture the three seed in the conference tournament, slugging .714 in the series against Houston, while driving in three runs.
