IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the weekly women’s soccer honors for the first week of the season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Saorla Miller, 5th, F, Memphis
Miller scored three goals across two wins for the Tigers. She opened her season account with a brace against Southern on Thursday, August 17 before scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Ole Miss on Sunday, August 20. It was the Tigers’ first home win over the Rebels since 2019.
Defensive Player of the Week
Deja Sandoval, 5th, D, UTSA
Sandoval aided the Roadrunners’ to only allowing three shots over two victories last week. Sandoval and the UTSA back line only allowed one shot on goal each against Central Arkansas on Thursday and McNeese on Sunday. She also scored the first goal of the game against Central Arkansas.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Kaylie Bierman, Jr., Memphis
Bierman did not allow a goal in 135 minutes of action, including a clean sheet against Ole Miss on Sunday. She recorded four saves against the Rebels in a 1-0 victory and added another save in a 6-0 win over Southern.
Rookie of the Week
Sarah Peyton Webb, D, North Texas
Webb aided the North Texas backline to two shutout wins at UNLV and Northwestern State. She blocked two shots against the Rebels on Thursday and helped limit Northwestern State to four shots (none on goal).
Weekly Honor Roll
Elin Simonardottir, So., F, Florida Atlantic
Simonardottir scored both goals for the Owls in a 2-2 draw with Little Rock on Thursday.
Summer Brown, So., F, North Texas
Brown scored a goal at UNLV on Thursday and added a goal and an assists against Northwestern State on Sunday.
Maddie Ogden, Sr., GK, North Texas
Ogden recorded two clean sheets against UNLV and Northwestern State, including six saves against the Rebels.
Georgia Brown, Jr., D, South Florida
Brown aided the Bulls’ defense to a shutout at LSU while providing the lone goal of the match in the 17th minute.
Jordyn Hyland, Jr., M, UTSA
Hyland provided three assists in a pair of wins for the Roadrunners, including two against Central Arkansas.
