IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors for the week-ending February 26.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Lucia Quiterio • Gr. • Charlotte • Benedita, Portugal
Ares Teixido Garcia • Gr. • Charlotte • Lleida, Spain
Quiterio and Teixido Garcia were both 3-1 as then-No. 61 Charlotte split a pair of matches against nationally ranked opponents last week. The duo went 2-0 in doubles, including a 6-2 victory against the No. 45-ranked tandem from South Carolina a 4-1 setback to the Gamecocks. They were 6-3 winners in doubles and won their respective singles matches to key the 49ers’ 4-1 victory against No. 67 Charleston Southern. Quiterio prevailed 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Teixido Garcia won 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3.
