Maura Moore threw a complete game shutout as Tulsa defeated the nation's 4th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls Tuesday night in front of a sellout crowd of 1,000 at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

The win against the 4th /6th -ranked Cowgirls is the highest-ranked win for the Hurricane since the 2009 season when Tulsa captured a 3-2 win over 5th-ranked Texas A&M. The USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll had the Cowgirls ranked No. 4, while the ESPN.com/USA Softball ranked OSU at No. 6.

The win gave fifth-year coach Crissy Strimple her 100th career victory as the Hurricane head coach.

Moore faced 27 batters, limiting the Cowgirls to four hits while striking out four to improve her record to 8-4 on the year. OSU's Kyra Adcock took the loss giving up all three runs in a relief appearance.

In the fourth, Imani Edwards tripled to center field with a grounder up the middle and scored Tulsa's first run when Claira Skaggs followed with a double down the left field line for her second two-bagger of the game.

In the top of the fifth, OSU put runners on base with a single and walk, advancing to second and third, but Moore retired Macy Graf on strikes to end the inning. The Cowgirls put one runner aboard in the top of the sixth but struck out two swinging and got the final out on a popup to second baseman Abby Jones.

Tulsa added two insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning. After an opening out, Haley Morgan doubled to left center field and Edwards pushed Morgan to third base on a single to right field. Edwards made her way to second base with a steal. With two outs, Abby Jones knocked the ball down the third base line as a fielding error scored Morgan and Edwards for a 3-0 Hurricane lead.

OSU put two runners on base in the top of the seventh, but Moore forced two groundouts and a pop-up for the Hurricane victory.
