IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s tennis Player of the Month honors for the month of September.
 
MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Petro Kuzmenok • Jr. • Rice
Kuzmenok went 6-1 in September, including three straight-set wins to claim the Blue Division bracket of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic at Alabama, before going on to win three pre-qualifying matches for the ITA All-American Championships. Kuzmenok saw his run of six straight wins end with a three-set loss in the qualifying draw.
 
WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Xin Tong Wang • Jr. • Wichita State
Wang, who is ranked No. 73 nationally in the ITA preseason rankings, became the first Wichita State player in program history to compete in and register a victory in the singles main draw of the ITA All-American Championships as she scored a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win against the nation’s No. 19-ranked player in the opening round. Wang was the only American Conference player to register a main-draw singles win, while she additionally won two All-American Championships doubles qualifiers.
