IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly tennis honors for the week-ending February 24.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Millie-Mae Matthews • Sr. • Florida Atlantic
Matthews delivered clinching points in both singles and doubles to lift Florida Atlantic to a 4-2 win against then-No. 20 UCF in a matchup of unbeaten teams. Matthews paired with Victoria Gomez O’Hayon for a 7-6 (4) win at No. 2 doubles to give the Owls their first team point, and she ended the match with a thrilling 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) win at No. 6 singles. Matthews has gone 4-0 in dual match singles play and has a 4-1 dual record in doubles for the Owls, who have moved to No. 22 in this week’s ITA rankings.
