COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Marcel Reed threw four touchdown passes and No. 19 Texas A&M pulled away in the second half for a 42-24 win over UTSA on Saturday night at Kyle Field.

Reed connected twice with Mario Craver, including a 22-yard strike late in the third quarter, and also threw scores to Noah Concepcion and tight end Theo Melin Ohrstrom. Concepcion electrified the Aggie crowd of 107,521 with an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter, and finished with 166 all-purpose yards.

The Aggies (1-0) led 21-10 at halftime, then answered a 75-yard touchdown burst by UTSA’s Robert Henry on the first play of the third quarter with back-to-back touchdown drives to seize control. Reed went 22 of 34 for 289 yards with no interceptions, spreading passes to nine different receivers.

Henry was a bright spot for the Roadrunners (0-1), rushing for 177 yards and touchdowns of 15 and 75 yards. Quarterback Owen McCown threw for 121 yards, while Brandon Tennison added a late 34-yard scoring pass to Amarion Wilson.

Texas A&M’s defense allowed just 170 passing yards, recorded nine tackles for loss, and limited UTSA to 5 of 16 on third downs. Rylian Kennedy had the Aggies’ lone sack, and Tyreek Chappell broke up a key third-down pass to stall a second-quarter drive.

The Aggies finished with 399 total yards to UTSA’s 373 and won the turnover battle with no giveaways. Reuben Owens added 37 rushing yards, and Amari Daniels chipped in 19, while kicker Jared Zirkel hit all six PATs.
