Memphis, North Texas, Rice, South Florida Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly women’s soccer honors for the third week of the 2025 season.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Leah Chancey, Gr., M, Rice
Chancey aided the Owls to a pair of victories last week and contributed three points in each contest. She first scored a goal and provided an assist in Rice’s 3-2 win over Oklahoma State on Thursday, August 28, before adding three more points with a goal and an assist in the Owls’ 2-1 win over Louisiana on Sunday, August 31.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Gentiana Fetaj, Sr., M, South Florida
Fetaj aided the Bull defense in only allowing one goal in two matches last week. The Bulls allowed just five shots on goal in a 1-0 shutout over UNCG on Sunday after allowing only three shots on goal against No. 19 Wake Forest on Thursday. The senior also provided an assist on the game-winning goal against UNCG on Sunday.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Alina Arneth, Jr., North Texas
Arneth made five saves while allowing only one goal over two appearances for the Mean Green. The junior made three saves in a clean sheet as North Texas defeated McNeese, 4-0, on Thursday, and she made three saves against No. 20 Oklahoma on Sunday.
 
Freshman of the Week
Ellis Kelly, F, Memphis
Kelly aided the Tigers to a 2-1 win over Missouri on Thursday, scoring the first goal of the match in the 26th minute.
 
Honorable Mention
Sloane Young, Gr., F, Florida Atlantic
Young scored a goal and helped lead the Owls to a 2-1 victory over Lipscomb for their first win of the season.
 
Rachel Roebuck, Gr., F/D, North Texas
Roebuck aided the Mean Green defense to allowing only six shots on goal over two matches against McNeese and No. 20 Oklahoma.
 
Hedda Ornberg, Jr., F, South Florida
Ornberg scored the game-winning goal for the Bulls against UNCG on Sunday just 19 seconds into the match.
 
Jasmine Kessler, Jr., GK, UTSA
Kessler made seven saves over two matches, including two against Colorado State and five in a scoreless draw against Colorado College.
 
Jordan Frederick, Jr., F, Tulsa
Frederick provided two assists in a 4-0 win over Southern Nazarene and two goals in a 3-2 win over Kansas City.
