IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Pablo Roche Alcaya, Freshman, Wichita State
Alcaya was 5-0 across singles and doubles last week. He defeated No. 107 Johan Rodriguez of No. 10 Oklahoma, 7-6 (5), 6-1) at No. 3 singles, Parv Nage of Oral Roberts, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 singles and Ben Chetewy Ungar of UTSA, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, at No. 4 singles. He also was victorious in two doubles matches with partner Ziad Mashni, including a win over No. 32 Bruno Nhavene and Oscar Lacides of Oklahmoa.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Giorgia Roselli, Junior, Wichita State
Roselli went undefeated across three Shocker team victories. At No. 2 singles, the junior defeated Emma Rizzeto of Nebraska, 6-3, 6-3, and Heike Janse van Vuuren of Kansas, 6-4, 7-6 (3), while also taking down Abilene Christian’s Masha Vrsalovic, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. She also picked up three doubles wins with Shocker partner Xin Tong Wang, including a 6-2 win over No. 58 van Vurren and Kyoka Kuba of Kansas.
