IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors.
 
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Kabeer Kapasi, Senior, Rice
Kapasi was undefeated in three completed singles matches at No. 4 for the Owls. He secured the match-clinching point against Oregon’s Matthew Burton, coming from behind to win, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. He also picked up wins against Lamar’s Anthin, 6-0, 6-1, and against LSU’s Andrej Loncarevic, 6-4, 6-0. The senior also picked up two wins at No. 2 doubles with partner Yair Sarouk against Oregon and Stanford.
 
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Vichitraporn Vimuktananda, Senior, Wichita State
Vimuktananda went undefeated in three completed singles matches. She defeated Daria Lalescu of Long Beach State (6-1, 6-4) and Suzanie Pretorius of Iowa State (6-4, 6-2) in straight sets before coming from behind to defeat Iowa’s Pia Kranholdt, 4-6, 7-5, 6-0, to clinch the match-winning point on the road. The senior also went 3-1 in doubles with partner Anne Knuettel, including the doubles clinching point against Long Beach State, 7-5.
