IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, April 12.
Pitcher of the Week
Anne Long, So., South Florida
Long repeats as American Pitcher of the Week after leading the Bulls to a series sweep of Florida Atlantic. The sophomore earned two wins and a save on the weekend. In the series finale, she tossed 14.0 innings in an extra-inning marathon, striking out 13 batters.
Player of the Week
Kinzey Woody, Fr., 3B, Wichita State
Woody reached base in all three games of Wichita State’s sweep of UTSA. In game two, the freshman launched two home runs and drove in six runs. She finished the weekend with a .500/.700/1.500 slash line.
Honorable Mention
Jenna Lord, R-Sr., 3B, Charlotte
Lord recorded a hit and scored a run in all four games, helping lead Charlotte to a sweep over Memphis.
Madison Conley, Jr., UTL, North Texas
Conley led the Mean Green to a series win over East Carolina, recording a hit in every game while driving in three runs.
Maura Moore, Gr., P, Tulsa
Moore earned a pair of wins for the Golden Hurricane, tossing 14.0 innings and finishing with a 1.50 ERA.
Claira Skaggs, Gr., INF, Tulsa
Skaggs recorded a hit and scored a run in every game, totaling 13 bases on the week.
Ryley Nihart, So., P, Wichita State
Nihart threw a pair of complete-game victories for the Shockers, posting a 1.50 ERA across 14.0 innings.
