TaShawn Thomas and Ben Moore win Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the second winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the 2013-14 season.


AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TaShawn Thomas • Jr. • F • Houston
Thomas averaged a double-double to help Houston to a 3-0 week and improve the Cougars to 4-0 overall for just the second time since 1997-98. He averaged 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.3 blocks in wins against Texas-Pan American, Texas-San Antonio and Lehigh. Thomas shot 77.8 percent from the field (21 of 27) in the three wins.

Ben Moore • Fr. • F • SMU
Moore came off the bench to score 13 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the field, with a team-high nine rebounds to go with three assists and two blocks in just 19 minutes in the Mustangs’ 89-58 win against Rhode Island.

Averaged 12.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists in a 3-0 week. Had a triple-double (16 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) in an 80-62 win against Yale.

Averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds in wins against Hofstra and Cornell.
 
Corey Allen Jr. • Jr. • G • USF
Averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in wins against Bethune-Cookman and Bowling Green.
 
Nic Moore • So. • G • SMU
Scored 20 points with seven assists in 28 minutes in an 89-58 win against Rhode Island.
