Alisia Jenkins gave sixth-seeded USF a lead it took past the three-minute mark, but the Bulls couldn’t stop a late run by No. 3 Louisville in a 60-52 NCAA tournament second-round loss before a crowd of 5,014 Monday night at the Sun Dome.
USF (27-8) tied the program record for wins and got a game-high 25 points from junior Courtney Williams. The American’s scoring leader scored the game-high after connecting on three of the Bulls’ seven 3-pointers.
Louisville's Jude Schimmel scored eight of her team-high 13 points late in the game to lead four Cardinals in double figures. She added six rebounds to help Louisville finish with 45-32 advantage on the glass. The Cardinals grabbed 20 rebounds on the offensive end and forced 16 turnovers.
Laura Ferreira finished with nine points for USF after making three 3-pointers. Shalethia Stringfield added seven points and a game-high five assists while Jenkins finished with seven points and seven rebounds.
