The American Outdoor Performance List

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s sixth weekly outdoor track and field honors of the 2016 season, for the week ending April 24.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Cameron Burrell • So. • Houston • Houston, Texas
Burrell is the Male Track Athlete of the Week after picking up two individual wins and a relay title at the Carolyn & Ron Yokubaitis Invitational; Houston’s first home outdoor meet since 2008.  The sophomore opened the day as the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay, which ran 39.19 to win the event. The mark broke the stadium record of 39.57 set in 2005, and would have been good for eighth in the nation if the squad did not already rank No. 5 (39.14, April 9). Burrell won both the 100-meter dash (10.60) and the 200-meter dash (20.79). The Houston native currently ranks No. 2 in the conference and No. 39 in the NCAA in the 200.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Anne-Marie Blaney • Jr. • UCF • Ocala, Fla.
Blaney has been named the Female Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after she won the 5,000-meter run at the Jesse Owens Track & Field Classic, held in Columbus, Ohio. The junior posted a school record time of 16:07.37, which was also a record for the meet hosted by Ohio State. Blaney's career-best time also ranks No. 1 in the conference and No. 30 in the nation this year.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Matthew O’Neal • Sr. • USF • Jackson, Miss.
O’Neal has been selected as Male Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in the 2016 outdoor season after he took first place in the triple jump at the Virginia Challenge, held in Charlottesville, Va. His most recent jump of 16.60 meters would be good for No. 1 in both the conference and NCAA, if he did not already hold the nation’s best mark of 16.73 meters that was set at the 2016 Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 30.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rebecka Abrahamsson • So. • Cincinnati • Karlshamn, Sweden
Abrahamsson has earned Female Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season after a first-place finish in the triple jump at the Lenny Lyles-Clark Wood Invitational, held in Louisville, Ky. The sophomore’s mark of 13.21 meters ranks No. 1 in The American, No. 2 in the NCAA East Region and No. 7 in the nation this season. In addition, Abrahamsson broke her own school record in the event.
