Highlights
USF 1, Auburn 2
Despite USF's 20-13 shot advantage over Auburn on Sunday, the Bulls couldn't come back from a 2-0 deficit.
Redshirt junior defender Kelli Burney scored for USF when Andrea Hauksdottir served in a corner in the 89th minute that Burney headed down and in. USF's offense continued to pressure, but didn't have enough time to tie up the match.
The Bulls (1-1-0) return to Corbett Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. where USF will officially unveil its black uniforms.
Missouri State 3, Tulsa 2 (OT)
The Golden Hurricane was edged in their home opener as Missouri State was able to force extra time and sealed the win in OT.
Emily Brandenburg put the Tulsa on the board with her first collegiate goal in the 17
th minute and got another just six minutes later when Anna Williams added a score. It was all Missouri State from there however as they matched the first half Hurricane performance and ended it eight minutes into overtime.
Tulsa returns to action on Thursday, August 23 against Oklahoma Baptist. Game time is set for 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
SMU 0, Long Beach State 1
SMU dominated play in the first half at Long Beach with seven shots to just two but a score in the 57
th minute proved to be the difference in the contest.
The Mustangs outshot LBSU 10-8 and had the edge in shots on goal 5-4 while Courtney Sebazco led the SMU with four shots in addition to three for freshman Celiana Torres.
SMU returns to action Thursday as they travel to Houston for a matchup with Rice at 7 p.m.
Cincinnati 0, Virginia 3
The Bearcats took on the No. 8 nationally-ranked Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville, Va., and were topped, 3-0.
Sydney Kilgore led Cincinnati with three shots in the match, including two on goal, which equals her career-high. Claudia Eustaquio posted four saves in goal for the Bearcats in her second start of the season after having played just once in 2017.
The Bearcats return home for a pair of matches with regional foes this week, starting Friday night at Gettler Stadium when Wright State comes to town.
Radford 1, ECU 5
In its home opener, ECU jumped out to a huge halftime lead, 4-0, and never looked back as five different Pirates scored.
The Pirates opened a two goal gap on the Highlanders in short order. In the eighth minute, Morgan Dewey swung in a corner kick and Jenna Dages was there on the back post to head home. Just 22 seconds later, Grace Doran raced into the Radford box and took a shot that found the back of the net.
The Pirates return to the road next, traveling to NC State for a matchup on Thursday, Aug. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Central Arkansas 0, Memphis 4
Memphis applied pressure early and often on the Bears' defense and cashed in after a free kick by Olivia Gauthier into the box found the feet of Marie Levasseur, who found the back of the net for the early lead.
Tigers added their second goal of the night in the 17th minute when Elizabeth Woerner found space and delivered a pass to Clarissa Larisey, who pushed it past the keeper. Larisey went on to score twice in the match.
Memphis closes its three-match homestand on Thursday when the Tigers host Mississippi State. Kickoff for Thursday's contest is set for 7 p.m.
Houston 0, Lamar 2
Lamar was able to net a score in each half against Houston to earn the win on Sunday night in spite of three save and a full 90 minutes from goalkeeper Rachel Estapore.
Houston had its share of scoring opportunities, racking up 17 shots, including seven SOG but Lamar was able to hold them off the scoreboard. Desiree Bowen led the Cougars with three shots, each of them on target.
Houston returns for its home opener on Aug. 24 against Prairie View A&M.
Florida Gulf Coast, UCF
Inclement weather forced Sunday's contest between No. 16 UCF Women's Soccer and FGCU to be called off.
It is undetermined at this time if the game will be made up at a later date.
UCF will now play its season opener at Chapel Hill, N.C. on Aug. 24 when the Knights take on No. 17 Texas. The Black and Gold will remain in town to face No. 6 UNC on Aug. 26.
