ECU Draws at No. 16 NC State

HIGHLIGHTS
ECU 1, No. 16/16 NC State 1 (2OT)
The Pirates picked up one the biggest points of the young American season as ECU drew at nationally-ranked North Carolina State, 1-1, in double overtime.
 
ECU tied the score in the 35th minute using a Morgan Dewey corner kick as her cross floated towards the back post where Chentay Warnes was able to head it back to Courtney Cash who tucked a header of her own between the diving NC State goalkeeper and the goalpost. The teams played sterling defense to finish the contest.
 
ECU returns home for a Sunday matchup against Davidson. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 pm in Johnson Stadium.
 
UConn 3, Central Connecticut State 2
The Huskies earned the first career win for head coach Margaret Rodriguez in thrilling fashion as UConn erased a 2-0 deficit for the victory.
 
After closing to within one before the half, UConn came out strong in the second with the equalizer from Erin Spillane before the go-ahead-goal by Sophia Danyko-Kulshycky in the 58th minute. It was her second score of the year.
 
UConn looks to carry momentum up to Newton, Mass. against the Boston College Eagles on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m.
 
RV/- Memphis 2, Mississippi State 5
The Tigers hosted a tough challenge in undefeated MSU and despite two goals of their own and a strong second half, Memphis was topped, 5-2.
 
Up against a three-goal deficit in the second half, The Tigers rallied in a five-minute span with goals from Jessica Lisi and Stasia Mallin to make it 3-2 in the 65th minute. It was State that was able to control late however with two goals of its own.
 
The Tigers embark on a six-match road swing, beginning next Thursday at UAB. Kickoff against the Blazers is set for 7 p.m.
 
SMU 2, Rice 1
The Mustangs picked up their second win of the year thanks to striker Allie Thornton who notched the game-winner with just 13 minutes left to top Rice, 2-1.
 
SMU was able to take advantage of its late chance as Isabelle Nashmi sent one into the goal area. Thornton controlled the ball and ripped it past the keeper for the clutch late tally. The score gave the junior striker three of SMU's four goals on the season.

SMU wraps up their three-game road swing with as they make the journey to cross-town rival TCU. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Sunday from Fort Worth.
 
Tulsa 2, Oklahoma Baptist 0
The University of Tulsa women's soccer squad defeated Oklahoma Baptist, 2-0, on Thursday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  TU moved to 1-1 on the season.
 
In the 39th minute, redshirt freshman Gabriella Borboa broke through the defense on a through ball from Alyssa Kaiser, slotting the ball in the upper left corner from 15 yards out to net the game-winner.
 
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, August 26 against Illinois State.  Game time is set for 1:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
