Tulane's Kody Hoese Named NCBWA District 7 Co-Player of the Year

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Tulane third baseman Kody Hoese was named the 2019 District 7 Co-Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association the organization announced on Friday afternoon.

Hoese, who earned the honor alongside Texas Tech's Josh Jung, is the fifth Green Wave player in program history to earn the honor, which consists of players from Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana.

Hoese, The American’s Player of the Year, has established himself as one of the conference’s all-time top hitters. Leading the league with a .391 batting average to end the season, he ranked among the top 20 in the nation in nine offensive categories, leading the country with 183 total bases. Hoese set American single-season records in home runs (23), total bases (183), slugging percentage (.779) and runs scored (72). A two-time American Player of the Week, Hoese was a first team All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball and was named first team All-Conference and National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). He was named one of 25 semifinalists for the 2019 Golden Spikes Award, one of 26 semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy and a finalist for the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award. Hoese highlighted this year’s MLB Draft selections after being chosen in the first round at No. 25 overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
