MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After clawing back into the game time and time again Monday night, the Memphis Tigers (16-16) tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning and picked up a 5-4 win over the Murray State Racers (18-17) on Zach Wilson's ninth inning walk-off home run. The home run was Wilson's third of the season and Memphis' first walk-off home run since Hunter Goodman's against Southern, April 6, 2019.
Down 4-2 at the seventh inning stretch, the Tigers got a two-out RBI double by Logan Kohler in the seventh that made it a one run game, while an RBI single in the eighth by Chris Swanberg tied the game 4-4.
After Murray State's Jordyn Naranjo got the final out of the eighth and stranded a runner at second base, he retired the leadoff hitter in the ninth before Wilson's blast to left-centerfield gave the Tigers the 5-4 walk-off win.
Kansas State 12, Wichita State 1 - Box Score
WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas State scored 12 runs over the first four innings and never looked back, downing Wichita State 12-1 on Monday night at Eck Stadium.
The Wildcats (18-17) struck first just three batters into the game, as Dominic Johnson drew a leadoff walk, advanced to third on a single from Orlando Salinas, and scored via a wild pitch to make it 1-0. Four more runs crossed in the second; Jeff Heinrich drew a bases-loaded walk, an error scored a second run, and a pair of run-scoring groundouts made it 5-0 Kansas State.
All five runs were charged to Wichita State starter Robert Cranz (0-2) who recorded just three outs before being relieved by Ryan Stuempfig. The Wildcats continued the offensive with a five-run third inning, capped by a two-run single off the bat of Josh Nicoloff.
South Florida 3, Florida A&M 1 - Box Score
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of South Florida Bulls went on the road for just the 10th time this season and came back with a 3-1 win at Florida A&M on Tuesday evening. South Florida improves to 21-16 with the victory and FAMU falls to 16-22.
The American Athletic Conference's leader in hits, Carmine Lane went 3-for-5 to improve his season tally to 59. Lane is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak and has eight multi-hit efforts in that span. The redshirt sophomore leads USF with 18 multi-hit games this year, including 10 games with three hits or more.
Lane led off the game with a double, but was stranded and the game remained scoreless over the first two innings. In the top of the third, Keanu Jacobs-Guishard also tallied a leadoff double and came around to score on an RBI-double by Jackson Mayo. Mayo would later score on a two-out single by Joaquin Monque to give the Bulls a 2-0 advantage.
That lead was plenty for the USF pitching staff which collusively turned in a gem. The Bulls stuck out 11 FAMU Rattlers, issued just one walk and allowed four hits on the night. Senior Joseph Sanchez made the start on the mound and turned in three scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Jack Cebert was next with five strikeouts over 3.1 IP. The freshman was the winning pitcher in the game and improved to 2-2 this season.
Austin Grause, Nolan Hudi and Hunter Mink combined to blank the Rattlers over the final 2.2 IP. Mink earned his seventh save of the year.
East Carolina 8, UNCW 2 - Box Score
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Lane Hoover tallied a game-high three hits, while Cam Clonch and Ben Newton each drove in a pair of runs helping East Carolina complete a home-and-home series sweep of instate foe UNCW, 8-2, Tuesday night at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. With the win the Pirates extended their win streak to five games improving to 23-15 on the season, while the Seahawks dropped to 21-14.
Leading 2-0 going to the bottom of the fourth, the Pirates plated a pair of runs extending their lead to 4-0. Newton led off with a double to left center, which was followed by a Zach Agnos walk. After UNCW brought in Noah Overton out of the bullpen, Hoover advanced the runners 90-feet on a sac bunt. Both runners moved up on an Overton wild pitch plating Newton for the would-be game-winning run. Josh Moylan followed with a walk to put runners on the corners and Clonch's sac fly to right field easily pushed across Agnos.
C.J. Mayhue (3-1) earned the win tossing two scoreless frames where he allowed one hit, walked one and struck out three. Carter Spivey notched his third save of the 2022 campaign with 2.1 scoreless frames with one punch out. The Pirates also got relief outings from Garrett Saylor (4.0 IP, 3 Hs, 2 Rs, 2 Ks) and Trey Yesavage (0.2 IP, 2 Hs, 1K) on the evening.
Evan Marcinko (0-1) took the loss after he was touched for two runs (both earned) on two this with two walks in one-third of an inning. The Seahawks would use five arms in relief in Brett Banks (2.2 IP, 3 Hs, 2 Rs, 3 BBs, 4Ks), Overton (3.0 IP, 2 Hs, 2 Rs, 1 BB, 4 Ks), Cody Benton (0.2 IP, 2 Rs, 2 BBs, 1 K), Bryce Cota (0.1 IP, 1 H) and Jason Hudak (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB).
Memphis 3, Central Arkansas 1 - Box Score
CONWAY, Ark. – In one of their first true pitcher's duels of the season, the Memphis Tigers (17-16, 3-6) took an early 1-0 lead and held on to squeak by the Central Arkansas Bears (16-19, 10-5) 3-1. The Bears loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth before Dalton Kendrick caught 3B AJ Mendolia looking at a called third strike that ended the game, as the Bears left the bases loaded in the ninth and 13 runners on base in the game.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a two-out RBI double by Blake Daniels.
The Tigers added a run in the third inning, as Zach Wilson led off the frame with a single, stole second base, advanced to third base on a groundout, and scored on an RBI groundout by Ben Brooks, which put the Tigers in front 2-0.
Houston 4, Houston Baptist 2 - Box Score
HOUSTON – Houston freshman Tab Tracy collected four hits in his first collegiate start and Cougar pitching limited Houston Baptist to three hits in a 4-2 victory against the Huskies on Tuesday night from Sanders Field at Schroeder Park.
Tracy finished 4-for-4 and scored a run as part of Houston's two-run eighth inning. Brandon Burckel added an RBI-double during the frame. With the win, Houston improved to 24-13. Houston Baptist fell to 13-24 overall.
After being held to two hits in the first three innings, the Cougars broke through in the fourth inning. Houston used three hits to plate a pair of runs. Alex Lopez (leadoff single) scored on a passed ball and Ian McMillan connected on an RBI-single.
Cougar starter Nathan Medrano used 14 pitches to retire all six batters he faced. Houston reliever Maddux Miller (2-0) picked up the win, striking out two in 1.0 scoreless frame. Reliever Jackson Dannelley earned his first save, allowing one run in the final 3.0 innings.
HBU starter Thomas King drew the loss, (0-4) allowing two runs on five hits in 3.1 innings. Jake Miller struck a solo home run in the ninth inning for the Huskies' third hit.
Jacksonville 9, UCF 2 - Box Score
ORLANDO, Fla. – Jacksonville (19-15) baseball scored three runs in the third and never looked back, no-hitting UCF Baseball (21-16) over the final four innings to down the Knights 9-2. Jacob Marlowe was pegged with the loss, working three innings and allowing five runs.
UCF opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, as Ryan Taylor scored on a wild pitch to the backstop. Cole Russo battled through a full count to fist a single out to right field to score Pablo Ruiz from second and increase the lead to 2-0.
Jacksonville responded in the top of the third, scoring three runs to push the score to 3-2. They added two more in the fifth and a four spot in the seventh to extend the lead to 9-2, downing the Knights on Tuesday.
Ben Vespi worked two innings to open the ballgame this evening, allowing no hits and striking out one Dolphin. Julian Balzer pitched two innings to close out the ballgame, allowing one hit and striking out two batters.
Oklahoma 9, Wichita State 5 - Box Score
NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma erased a 5-2 deficit on the strength of a seven-run sixth inning, defeating Wichita State 9-5 on Tuesday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
The deciding inning featured just four Oklahoma singles, but also four walks, two wild pitches, four stolen bases and two errors. Diego Muniz had a two-run single that cut the Wichita State lead to 5-4, Jimmy Crooks tied the game with an RBI single, and Cade Horton plated the go-ahead run with an RBI groundout. A wild pitch, double steal, and infield single added three more runs in the inning, giving Oklahoma (22-13) a 9-5 advantage.
Wichita State (13-24) got off to a strong start, as Brock Rodden slammed a solo home run in the top of the first and Couper Cornblum knocked in another run with an RBI double in the second for a 2-0 advantage. After the Sooners tied things up with a pair of runs in the fourth, the Shockers reclaimed the lead with a three-run top of the sixth. Ross Cadena slapped a run-scoring single to score Xavier Casserilla, who led off the inning with a double. Andrew Stewart followed with a bunt down the third base line that was thrown away, allowing Garrett Kocis to score for a 4-2 lead. Jack Sigrist capped the scoring in the inning with a sacrifice fly to right.
Wichita State starter Caden Favors pitched well in his first career start, allowing two runs, one earned, over a career-high-tying 3.2 innings. He struck out two and walked one in a no-decision. LJ McDonough (3-2) took the loss for the Shockers, giving up four runs in 1.1 innings. Grayson Jones and Connor Holden put together strong outings in relief, combining for 2.2 scoreless frames with three strikeouts to keep the game within reach.
Southern Miss 11, Tulane 5 - Box Score
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team (24-13-1) fell to No. 6 Southern Mississippi (28-8) in an 11-5 ballgame on Tuesday evening inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Southern Miss. showed why they are one of the top pitching staffs in the country as they struck out 17 and buckled down when needed, holding the Wave to just two-for-sixteen with runners in scoring position.
Freshman Chandler Welch made his third start of the season and allowed no runs on one hit while striking out three over two innings of work.
Sophomore Ben Ethridge got the start for the Golden Eagles, allowed one earned run, and struck out seven over four innings of work.
Indiana 11, Cincinnati 4 -

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to the Indiana Hoosiers, 11-4, Wednesday night at UC Baseball Stadium.
Freshman pitcher Carter Earls (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Cincinnati (16-18, 6-3). Redshirt sophomore pitcher Ben Vore was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 2.1 shutout innings while only allowing one hit.
Redshirt sophomore infielder Ryan Nicholson led the way offensively for the Bearcats, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Redshirt junior outfielder Griffin Merritt also went deep, going 1-for-5 with a home run and an RBI. Sophomore outfielder Cole Harting chipped in as well, going 1-for-4 for Cincinnati with a triple and a walk.
