IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced this week’s baseball honors.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Seth Garner, Sr., RHP, Memphis
Garner allowed three hits and yielded two walks while striking out five batters in five full innings of work in a 10-5 Memphis victory over UTSA on May 10, handing the Roadrunners their first series defeat in conference play this season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jason Wachs, So., OF, Tulane
Wachs batted .500 with four extra-base hits, nine RBI and five runs scored in a 2-2 week that included a series victory over South Florida. Wachs delivered the game-winning hits in the eighth inning of a 9-8 win on May 9 and the seventh inning of a 9-5 triumph on May 10 to help Tulane capture the series.
HONORABLE MENTION
Alec DeMartino, Sr., OF, Charlotte
DeMartino batted .333 with three home runs, eight RBI and five runs scored in a 2-2 week that included a series win at UAB, including three hits and a game-winning home run in the 10th inning to take the finale 10-8 on May 10.
Brady McAbee, Jr., C, Memphis
McAbee finished with a .429 batting average, two home runs, seven RBI and three runs in a series win against UTSA, driving in four of Memphis’ six runs in a 6-4 victory on May 8.
Ethan Sanders, Fr., RHP, Rice
Sanders yielded five hits over seven innings, surrendering three runs while striking out four batters in a 5-3 win over East Carolina on May 9 to secure the series.
Nathan Earley, Sr., 1B, South Florida
Earley batted .600 with two home runs and nine RBI in a series setback at Tulane, driving in five runs and scoring four more in a 16-6 win to open the set on May 8.
Conor Myles, Grad, LHP, UTSA
Myles allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out seven batters in a 9-2 win at Memphis on May 9.
