IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of its 2025 men’s soccer honors, as chosen by the league coaches.
Regular season champions Charlotte and Florida Atlantic claimed five of the six major honors. Florida Atlantic graduate forward Mamadou Diarra was named Offensive Player of the Year, while the Owls’ staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year. Charlotte redshirt junior midfielder Ben Fisher was tabbed Midfielder of the Year, freshman defender Samuel Manufor was named Freshman of the Year, and senior goalkeeper Leo Stritter was voted Goalkeeper of the Year. South Florida redshirt junior Jahiem Wickham shared Goalkeeper of the Year honors, while Tulsa redshirt sophomore Luke Adams earned Defensive Player of the Year.
Diarra was selected as the American’s Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, becoming the fourth player in conference history to repeat (Matias Pyssalo, UCF, 2016–17; Cal Jennings, UCF, 2018–19; Alex Meinhard, Tulsa, 2020–21). Diarra tallied 16 points on the year with six goals and four assists.
Adams became the fourth Tulsa player to receive Defensive Player of the Year recognition, joining Mariano Fazio (2021, 2022) and Bradley Bourgeois (2015). He started all eight conference matches, anchoring a Golden Hurricane backline that recorded four clean sheets in league play.
Fisher is the first 49er to be named Midfielder of the Year. The redshirt junior started all 15 matches, scoring one goal and leading Charlotte with five assists.
Stritter becomes the first Charlotte player to earn Goalkeeper of the Year honors. The senior started all 15 matches, leading the conference in both save percentage (.789) and goals-against average (0.804) while recording seven shutouts.
Wickham is the second South Florida goalkeeper to claim the honor, joining Spasoje Stefanovic (2014, 2016). Wickham started all 16 matches for the Bulls, leading the conference with 54 total saves.
Manufor, the first 49er to win Freshman of the Year, started 14 of 15 matches and averaged 77.5 minutes per game. He helped anchor a Charlotte defense that recorded seven shutouts on the season.
Florida Atlantic head coach Joey Worthen and his staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year, the first such honor for Worthen. The Owls finished with a 5-1-2 conference record, earning a share of the American regular season title — their first regular season championship since 2007.
Missouri State received the Team Fair Play Award in its first season in the conference for recording the fewest fouls, yellow cards, and red cards.
Charlotte led all programs with five First Team All-Conference selections, followed by Florida Atlantic and South Florida with two apiece. Missouri State and Tulsa each placed one player on the first team.
UAB, Florida Atlantic, FIU, and South Florida each had two players named to the All-Freshman Team. Four selections were unanimous: Missouri State’s Harry Hogben, Memphis’ Miller Lashlee, South Florida’s Nicolas Pietrantonio, and Temple’s Luka Lukic.
