TULSA, Okla. – Tulane, Florida Atlantic and Tulsa each earned first-round victories on Thursday to open the 2026 American Conference Men’s Tennis Championship at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Both Florida Atlantic and Tulsa defended higher tournament seeds with 4-0 sweeps, while Tulane secured a minor upset in an 8/9 match with a 4-1 win.
The tournament continues with four quarterfinal matches on Friday, featuring No. 9 Tulane against No. 1 Rice, No. 5 Wichita State versus No. 4 South Florida, No. 7 Florida Atlantic showing down with No. 2 Charlotte and No. 6 Tulsa colliding with No. 3 Memphis.

Tulane 4, UAB 1 (Box Score)
Records: Tulane (8-11), UAB (7-14)
After dropping the doubles points, No. 9 seed Tulane won at four consecutive singles courts to claim the first-round match by a 4-1 final score over No. 8 UAB.
Tulane’s Steven Rice picked up the first singles win of the match with an emphatic 6-0, 6-1 performance at the number six court. Other winners for the Green Wave included Alec Gaudin at the third court (6-2, 7-5), Hady ElKordy at the fourth court (6-3, 6-4) and Daniel Phillips at the top court (7-6 (7-5), 6-2) to close out the contest.
Phillips earned a pair of wins on the day for Tulane, combining with Lance Nisbet at the first doubles court to secure a 6-1 triumph.
Florida Atlantic 4, Temple 0 (Box Score)
Records: Florida Atlantic (9-11), Temple (8-10)
No. 7 Florida Atlantic swept No. 10 Temple 4-0 on the opening day of the American Men’s Tennis Championship. The Owls were either tied or in the lead of the four matches that were abandoned.
Simon Myslivec and Segundo Goity Zapico were double winners for Florida Atlantic. The pair earned a 6-3 victory at the second court to secure the doubles point for the Owls at the outset of the match. Myslivec kicked off singles action with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the number five court, while Goity Zapico captured a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at second singles.
Jan Kusy added the fourth and deciding point for Florida Atlantic, by way of a 6-1, 6-2 win at the number four singles court.
Tulsa 4, UTSA 0 (Box Score)
Records: Tulsa (16-12), UTSA (5-15)
Host team Tulsa got off to a fast start in American tournament play to cap off first-round matches, as the No. 6 Golden Hurricane blanked No. 11 UTSA 4-0.
A pair of Tulsa players recorded two wins during the sweep of UTSA. The doubles team of Victor Torsetto and Gus Tettamble began the contest with a 6-4 result at number three doubles before Torsetto turned in the clinching singles point at the sixth court with a 6-2, 6-3 win. Nikita Volonski and partner Timo Carlsson Seger brought home the doubles point for Tulsa with a 6-2 win at the second court, and Volonski recorded the first singles point in just over an hour of play with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph.
