12 Plays of Christmas Play 12: UCF Football

Editor’s Note: Heading into the Holiday Season and the end of 2014 we thought it would be nice to look back at some of the great moments from this past fall. We scoured through lots of video footage and came up with our “12 Plays of Christmas”. Every day we will reveal a new play or moment that we consider to be one of our best from the year. The list will end with play number 1 on Christmas Eve.

Day 12– UCF Wins Conference Championship on Last Second Touchdown
Watch Moment

In the last game of the season UCF needed a win over East Carolina to clinch a share of the conference title. The Knights held a commanding 26-9 lead entering the 4th quarter, but the Pirates rallied and three touchdowns put them up 30-26 with 2:17 left in the game. With time running out, Shane Carden took a knee on the first three downs and then took a sack, which gave UCF the ball back with only ten seconds left on the clock. Holman connected with Josh Reese for 14 yards to get the Knights near midfield and on the last play of the game, Breshad Perriman hauled in a 51-yard touchdown pass on a Hail Mary from Justin Holman to lift the Knights over the Pirates. On what could be one of the craziest ends of a game in the college football season, the Knights came away with the victory and a share of the conference title. That play has also claimed the last spot on our 12 Plays of Christmas countdown.
