Baseball Teams Earn six wins Friday

Highlights
The American had a 6-3 Friday night, as UCF, Cincinnati, UConn, Memphis, USF and Wichita State each earned wins. The Shockers highlighted the action with two grand slams in a 9-1 rout over Nebraska, while UCF enjoyed a walk-off win in its series-opener against Wagner.
 
- Wichita State stayed unbeaten in a 9-1 win over Nebraska in the series opener. The Shockers blasted two grand slams on the way to victory, courtesy of Mason O’Brien, who went 3-for-3, and third baseman Alec Bohm who smashed his second of the year.  O’Brien ended the night with five RBIs. Starter Cody Heuer threw six shutout innings with five strikeouts to earn his second win of the year. The last time there were two grand slam home runs in a single game for Wichita State was April 15, 2008.
 
- Cincinnati picked up its second win of the week as the Bearcats beat UT-Martin 6-1 in Game 1 of the series. J.T. Perez picked up his second win this season, going six scoreless innings with four hits, three walks and four strikeouts. Manny Rodriguez had a 2-for-2 day at the plate.
 
- First baseman Rylan Thomas hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Knights a 6-3 walk-off win over Wagner. The American's Preseason Player of the Year ended the night with four RBIs. The Knights have won five straight, as they continue their weekend series tomorrow.
 
- USF earned its fourth straight win and scored double digit runs for the third time in a row in a 13-1 win over Columbia. USF led 16-3 in hits, as third baseman David Villar went 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Starter Shane McClanahan threw for six innings and had 12 strikeouts.  

- UConn lefthander Tim Cate pitched seven innings with 10 strikeouts on the way to a 5-4 win over North Florida to pick up his first vicotry of the year. The Huskies earned their third straight win, as they prepare for Game 2 tommorrow.
 
- Memphis has won two in a row after defeating Middle Tennessee 6-4 in the opening game of the Tri-Star Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. Lefthander Hunter Smith came out of the bullpen and pitched six scoreless innings.
 
- ECU strung together nine hits, but its winning  streak went cold in a 12-2 setback against Pepperdine. Catcher Jake Washer went 3-for-4 with the Pirates’ only two RBIs. ECU will host No. 21 Missouri State tomorrow.
 
- Designated hitter Lael Lockhart went 2-for-4, but Houston took a 14-2 loss to No. 7 Kentucky. The Cougars will host Misssissippi State tomorrow.
 
- Ty Johnson and Sal Gozzo each had two hits, but Tulane gave up five runs in the first inning and suffered a 9-3 loss to Cal State Fullerton.
